A couple really good short stories in this volume! Particularly 'A Volcano is Born' by Brenda Lozano and 'El Senor de la Palma' by Edmundo Paz Soldan.
For me, this one improved as it went along. I’m not sure if it is because the entries in the latter half are “better” or more to my liking or if it just took me awhile to get into the spirit of the collection. My own cultural background and experiences may have made it harder for me to relate and open up to these stories which was something I was definitely aware of as I read.
