This is a new translation of Dag Hammarskjöld's Vägmärken and a reading guide, both prepared by Bernhard Erling and combined into a single book.

The more well-known 1964 translation by W.H. Auden is called Markings. As Erling writes in the introduction to Waymarks, Auden's translation is frequently inaccurate, which is why this new version was created in 1982.
