I wanted to like this one, I really did. But despite the heroine's apparent history as an astute business woman, she spent the first couple chapters acting so darned stupid. Eventually I ran out of sympathy and stopped caring about how she would dig herself out of this mess.
Southern belle and three time divorcee BeBe Loudermilk (pronounced "Bay Bay") loses all of her wordly possessions, including her restaurant and three historic homes in Savannah, to charming con man and professional "investment counselor", Reddy. This, of course, is the result of a hot and heavy relationship with said investment counselor. And then there is the matter of a teeny tiny misunderstanding over a Durable Power of Attorney. BeBe soon discovers that the only thing left - besides her pret...
Plot was pretty good but I wanted more emotional impact.(view spoiler)[I would have liked more detail and conversation from the bad guy at the end. Revenge feels better if you can see the bad guy hurting. That was not shown. (hide spoiler)]OTHER THINGS I DID NOT LIKE:I did not feel warm at the end. It was a bland feeling. I wanted more emotional interaction with the main couple. Getting them together was too abrupt and felt thrown in at the end.The book is told in 1st person point of view which
The first half of this book is really slow. It picks up once BeBe and company head to Florida. Though this book got rave reviews from other library patrons, I didn't like it. I couldn't like BeBe. I don't have anything in common with BeBe and found her hard to relate to. I found it hard to believe anyone could be that naive and trusting, especially after two ex-husbands and an ex-fiance. Her plan to get her money back is not at all legal and I could not believe that her friends would go along w
great combination of friendship, adventure, romance, food, bargain-hunting, and redecorating. I liked this! didn't realize til now this is a #2 in a series, I will have to read #1. One thing I didn't like is how most of the chapters are written from Bebe's perspective, but periodically a chapter will say "Weezie" and come from her perspective. I felt this really broke the flow of the novel.
Savannah Breeze by Mary Kay AndrewsWith what happens to BeBe Loudermilk (pronounced BayBay naturally!) in this book, you might think that this was going to be a very depressing read. I’m happy to say, it is not. Out of the three “Southern” books in this trilogy, this is by far the funniest and quirkiest. How Ms. Andrews could find us the humor in the facts that a very smart woman loses everything she owns to a con man, makes for an amazingly talented writer.BeBe, as I said loses everything she o...
Another great book in this southern mystery. These characters are fun and loveable.
Wow. What a great book. This was one of those where you read so fast because you can’t wait to see what happens next. This has to be one of my favorites. This is the sequel to Savannah Blues. This time, the story focus is on Be Be. She meets this guy who sweeps her off her feet and then sweeps everything out from under her. The only thing she has is a bunch of little cabins on Tybee Island. The guy is a con artist and conned her out of everything. Her properties, her money and her grandparents j...
Another cute and quirky book by Mary Kay Andrews. # 2 in the Southern series was pretty good with just a few slower parts. The typical happily ever after ending, but that’s OK with these books.
3.5 stars...fun to be back with Bebe & Weezie again!
It took me a while to get into this one, simply because I read it immediately following Savannah Blues and it took me a little while to get used to reading with BeBe as the main character instead of Weezie. I enjoyed the story and it kept me turning pages trying to figure out how it was going to work out. Quite unrealistic in the legal aspects of scamming and getting away with it... I figure there's slim to none chance of that working out in real life, but good thing it's fiction. Bugs me a bit
What a fun read! Mary Kay Andrews brings the south and its' belles, to life! This story is about Bebe and her troubles. She gets conned and makes it her mission to con the con man, AND...well, i will not give too much away, but it has a happy ending! This is a great beach read and a winter read on the couch in front of the fire....enjoy.
Love Love Loved it! Would like to see how everything works out for Daniel and Weezie and BeBe and Harry, but I really loved this book.
I loved this book. Again Andrews didn't let me down. I recommend this book for a good summer reader.
This is a cute beach read , but it is not a mystery.
Ugh. I know chick-lit isn't ever going to be some sort of fantastic work of art, but this wasn't even a middle-of-the-road-okay book. There were just too many questionable details for me to enjoy this book.First, if Reddy stole all of BeBe's money, possessions and property, how come he didn't take the restaurant and the inn? That was never explained, not to mention the fact that they just glossed over how and why she acquired the inn to begin with. And then, how come she had to close down the re...
It is no secret if you follow my reading habits that I love Mary Kay Andrews books. So, when I came across a daily deal on BookBub for this book, which had been on my to read list, I happily added to my collection.Even though this is the second in this series (the first I have yet to read), I was able to follow along and enjoy the story of BeBe Loudermilk, who is a divorced thirty something Southern belle. She meets a charming and gorgeous man that helps her in her time of need while her grandmo...
I would have liked this more if I liked Bebe (pronounced BAY-BAY) more. She came across as a spoiled, naive, *cough*DUMB*cough*, southern belle princess who made a whole STRING of bad decisions and then floundered around and waited on other people to help fix things.Case in point:+She waited IN HER CAR overnight to go check her other rental properties, and then waited a couple MORE DAYS to see her attorney, after having discovered her townhome with a Sold sign on it and all her stuff gone. This
I unabashedly love Mary Kay Andrews' Weezie & BeBe books. They are lighthearted fun, and entertaining. I adore Savannah and the Georgia Sea Islands, so the settings are always perfect and this one includes Ft. Lauderdale. I had read the original book Savannah Blues, which introduces the characters of Weezie and BeBe. The first book is devoted primarily to Weezie, her mystery to solve, and her new found man, Daniel. Savannah Breeze is the second novel and primarily focuses on BeBe. I have to say
This is the second in the Weezie and Bebe series. I love that it is set in the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia. (I lived there for 4 years while attending SCAD). Anyway, in this installment, Bebe falls for this "wonderful" man and ends up getting conned. After losing everything, she enlists the help of her best friend Weezie and they set out with some new friends to set things right. The caper they pull has a good mix of action and humor. All in all, this is a fun book and a fairly quick rea...
