Well, there are series openers and there are series openers. I'm not sure how far this story has got to go, but the launch here is narratively quite splendid. The mythology of this world is that if you've suffered a near-death experience (been thrown from a car, flat-lined, that sort of thing) you might well have gained a power that lets you become an avatar of the dead. That way you would absorb the skills of any soul you carried with you, whether they be sharp-shooter, surgeon or card shark, a...
This was my last read of August, like I finished this on the last day of August, sometime after midnight. I think I was watching Tarzan, actually. So maybe I was too into Tarzan to properly pay attentionI really thought the characters would have powers linked to death because it’s called Graveyard Wars so that’s where my line of thinking was. But actually they can just access people’s skills sets? So like, if you need a doctor right now, boom you know how to do open heart surgery, I guess. I did...
This took a while to figure out what was going on, but I loved it from the start. It's about these people who have the ability to channel the dead and use their special skills. There are two different factions at war about how to use these powers. The art was cartoony but worked well with a muted blue color palette. I really liked how they showed people using their abilities with a ghostly figure standing behind them in yellow. Received a review copy from Ablaze and Edelweiss. All thoughts are m...
Great start. Could have used a better editor though... all those your/you’re misuses are jarring to the reading experience
An intriguing idea, but the execution is lackluster and the editing is abysmal. I counted several 'your' vs 'you're' mistakes and that is just not okay.
Unique world and story of a family of cemetery caretakers, whose skill goes beyond burial and last rites. As twin young adults learn about their family’s legacy and the danger they are in, their distant father’s grief and past leaves him little help in the situation.
meh
The premise is super interesting, however the execution was very confusing. The way that the powers are shown to work are just very confusing to me. There was also a part towards the beginning where I couldn't tell the difference between two characters. As a result, I couldn't tell when the story broke to the other character and was very confused. There is unfortunately not a lot of explanation over what was going on and I just felt confused.I would like to thank Diamond Books for providing me w...
2.5☆ - Idk wtf I just read. The story was like, super interesting and unique but what they actually wrote was all over the fucking place. Also, there were a HILARIOUS amount of typos/misspellings. Like, "you're/your," "then/than," "whose/who's"...big ol' yikes, dog. Another thing: It was hard to keep track of who was who because the art [which was good] was confusing. A lot of the characters looked the same, I didn't get a lot of the names, also there were no page numbers or super obvious breaks...
