Since I had just read The Times I Knew I was Gay, that highlights the importance of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan fave character Willow;since I am also a Willow fan (how many tv series include a character who transforms herself in so many dramatic ways? Talk about coming of age!);and since I am a big fan of Mariko Tamaki's writing,Therefore I zipped through four issues of this in a matter of minutes. Still, I would say it is disappointing, though I like some of the witty Willow quips, and very mu...
Really enjoyed this first issue! Having read the existing Buffy series from Boom beforehand would be helpful, but isn’t entirely necessary to enjoy the comic (given you have a basic knowledge of the Buffy-verse).
My Thoughts On: Willow #11. You have to love how Boom Studios keeps us rolling in Buffy comic spin-offs. I was particularly excited to see a series centered on Willow, given her current absence in the main comic series. Also, it's written by the complete queen that is Mariko Tamaki, and so there's definitely serious talent behind this series.2. Willow wanting to write to someone and not having anyone left she feels she can talk to just hurts. It's relatable, but it HURTS.3. "Maybe it's obvious t...
I really enjoyed this first part of the series, but I can't help hoping and yearning for a Tara to pop up. Thanks Boom Studios for sending me an ARC! Looking forward to the upcoming parts.
I've grown to really enjoy Mariko Tamaki's writing style. She really knocked it out of the park here in terms of Willow's characterization and voice. And the artwork was beautiful as well. This was an enjoyable read that I'm looking forward to reading more of. Just a heads up: If you haven't read any of the BOOM! Studios 2019 Buffy reboot, then this story will likely confuse you. In my opinion, it does contain spoilers for the four volumes of the series, BUT if you already have a working knowled...
I definitely should have read whatever story comes before this because there were some reveals that left me shook LIKE WHOA, but it didn't keep me from enjoying the story. So great to dive into the Buffyverse again. My rewatch has given me EMOTIONS.
this wasn't a terrible start. i like the art and the overall feel. and this willow doesn't feel like she strays too far from tv canon willow but i've only seen so much buffy.
I thought this was a great spin off of Buffy. I love how we get an entire graphic novel of Willow. Getting to see what she did after the events in the earlier novels. I love the art style. I think it was interesting how Willow goes to this small town to find out who she is and what is the next steps in her life.
I will never not love anything BtVS-related. An intriguing start to a new story arc, and I look forward to the next issue!
Being a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a child and then growing up to become a queer witch myself. I feel like it just makes my love for this that much more.
Willow in the main series: I dress like a yoga hoboWillow in her miniseries: I remembered I'm supposed to be goth and look coolSERIOUSLY what the fuck is up with this? The first few issues of Buffy, Willow looked great. Then they started letting her wear only the colour green and dressing like she was an athlete or something in sports bras and yoga pants all the time. She's still wearing a lot of green here but it's as part of actual outfits and ensembles that look fantastic. Weird inconsistency...
I found this solo first issue of a new series of The Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic series specifically story-told centered all around the character Willow is wonderful.
I love the art. I am also rather excited for the next issue. Since it is the first issue it mainly dives into the set up of why Willow ends up in a small town. It does make me want to go back a read the series it is connected to, but I don't think I can do that because I'm not the biggest fan of the art style in the majority of the run. But this book has beautiful art and what looks to be an interesting premise.
For as long as there has been Buffy comics there have been the Willow standalone stories. So far this looks solid, Willow off trying to heal and it looks like she stumbled into a village reminiscent of The Wicker Man... we shall see if it succeeds or she ends up in a weird relationship with a half snake lady. Though I wish she hadn’t left England to have her adventure.
I stopped reading the new Buffy series, but was intrigued when I saw this issue at the comic shop. I love the entire Buffyverse but I probably won't be continuing this series. Nothing really happened in this issue and I did feel kind of lost since I stopped reading the Buffy series.
Nothing happens. Probably could have put this whole comic on 2 pages in the next issue
2.5
3.5 rounded up for decent art and just being happy to see a Willow adventure.Willow goes cross-country after Xander's (apparent) death in the main series and stumbles upon a cult of witches?
hmm this was really short and nothing much happened. but the coloring and the character art was beautiful
The art is cute and the story is intriguing. I'm not familiar with the Buffy TV Show or even the other comics, but I'm always here for a witch on a road trip!
