It really took me awhile to finish this book and to be honest I skimmed the end because this book was so boring. It easily could be 100 pages short because nothing really happened. The plot seemed interesting enough, a reality show about weddings where the winner gets a penthouse plus the wedding. And an eniemies to lovers as well which is my fave btw.. but it all fell flat. I expected a little more angst with more push and pull between the MCs. I didn't feel their chemistry at all, the sparks w...

Sometimes I remember why I'm so picky when it comes to "cute and funny" romance novels, and that would be because I hate their voice more often than not. The issue with relying on humor is that it's just subjective and honestly, I've tried enjoying The Wedding Game but I can't see that happening. I'm genuinely dreading reading more, I can't stand it, and I just don't have the time for that. I'm so ready to forget everything about this cheesy fest, ugh. DNF.
I am bit disappointed with The Wedding Game. It is a romance story with reality TV and family drama as background. I was expecting hilarious family feud caught on camera. Instead Miss Quinn focusing only on the romance between Alec and Luna. The romance is sweet and cute. But I want more of family feud. More family member acting like crazy. Some sort of Modern Family. I still enjoy the book OK. Managed to finish it. 3 stars
I love romances that center around TV show competitions, but I’ve never read one about a DIY wedding competition! The Wedding Game is a fun, quirky rom-com from Meghan Quinn, featuring a DIY expert and a jaded divorce lawyer who compete to create the ultimate dream wedding for their brothers.Luna loves her brother Cohen and wants the best for him and his fiancé. So when she see the chance to enter a competition to win a penthouse and dream wedding, she signs them up. With her DIY skills as the o...
Fun and sexyLight, funny, and a little bit charming, this is quintessential Quinn with a touch of something new. It's tamer and more of a heartwarming comedy than her usual, leaning into the funny in the first half before shifting into a sweet - yet still very sexy - romance. Though it got off to a bit of a slow start for me (just because I wanted it to be more romance-focused), it transitioned into a very solid, subtle read. The humor is still prevalent throughout, but these strangers-turned-ri...

I want to give this 5 starts, that's how much I enjoyed it. But by god, the hero's (divorce attorney Alec) brother (Thad) worked my last nerve. Just waaay too over the top for me! (Reminds me of the catcher in MQ's college baseball series whose name escapes me now...ah! Jason Orson-- but Thad was more annoying than Jason)I loved the originality of this story. What an idea for a reality show! I'd watch it! I loved the humor in it. I loved the characters of Luna and Alec. Maybe I loved Alec a bit
Ugh, just no... Wasted another First Reads pick on this one. Not romantic or comedic. 188 f-bombs, multiple uses of cursing in the Lord's Name and it deteriorates from there. The writing is technically decent, so I can't bring myself to completely pan it, but I didn't find the characters particularly likeable or appealing. The "romantic" couple spends time explicitly discussing their sexual preferences & personal anecdotes, including comparing "sexebitionist" exploits. The heroine shares about the...
Not what I expectedI really wanted to like this book. The summary drew me in, and I was set to enjoy a humorous romance. The prologue should have given me a clue that one of the main characters was awful. Truly, completely awful. Not one to be deterred, I kept reading. Then the language slapped me in the face. I'm not a prude, and I certainly do my share of cussing; my problem was that it wasn't necessary for this story. A few words here and there, maybe, but this was way overdone. The story was
I love everything MQ writes, and this book was so inherently her, yet so DIFFERENT at the same time. It was just flat out hilarious!! So the premise is that Luna and Alec, along with their respective family members, will participate on the game show "The Wedding Game" in order for their siblings to win the wedding of their dreams. For Luna this is a chance to help give her brother and his adorable fiance the wedding they have always but thought they could never afford (or legally have) and for A...
5 Solid StarsThis has been one of the best enemies to lovers books I have read in such a long time. This had everything I love about a book. Humor that had me rolling on the floor, witty banter, tender moments, and a bit of angst. I absolutely ate this story up of Luna and Alex! And the secondary characters made it so much sweeter. Definitely a gem and going on my favorites of 2021!
My Rating: 5 stars Genre Romantic Comedy Meghan Quinn has crafted another HILARIOUS romantic comedy with THE WEDDING GAME! You guys!!!! I loved this book so much! It’s hilarious, lighthearted, and so unique! Competing for a fabulous penthouse in NYC would be a dream to anyone and Meghan really does a wonderful job when it comes to brining these dreams a reality for her characters! Not only is this book delightfully funny and unique but it has a gorgeous romance that starts out a little shak...
4 stars Meghan Quinn never fails at making me laugh while reading. I laughed so hard in this book, but it also had the perfect amount of emotion. I loved the concept and I had a blast reading it. Luna and Alec are both contestants in 'The Wedding Game' working to help with their brothers their dream wedding and a penthouse in NYC. Luna is excited. She had to convince her brother Cohen, and his fiancée Declan to do the show. For Alec, it's different. Alec's brother Thad has to beg him to join...
I know I'm not supposed to judge a book by its cover but I do it anyways and this one looks like it was designed by someone without an artistic bone in their body, while using a graphics program from the 90's. BUT I saw a couple of good reviews and I'd read too many sad books in a row so I wanted a light, happy change and I'm glad I went with this one. It was fun and playful. The characters were kinda immature but still witty. It's all quite PG-13 until the sexytime started. Suddenly it was MATU...
A fun and cute enemies to friends to lovers story, which made me laugh! The Wedding Game was like 'The Great British Bake off' but for DIY, crafty weddings! I love a bit of GBO, and this book was just what I needed to read alongside a darker book!Luna, a crafting queen, convinces her brother and his fiancé Declan to compete on the TV show 'The Wedding Game.' Meanwhile Alec, a cynical divorce lawyer is reluctantly roped in to help support his brother Thad, and his fiancé Naomi win the title. As so...
Review published to blog: https://books-are-a-girls-best-friend...“The Wedding Game” is EVERYTHING a ROM-COM Should be and MORE!Fun, Flirty, and Sexy! It was a little steamy if you want to know the truth (yes, this girl was blushing a few times, but aside from that, I loved everything about it!). Luna loves her brother Cohen and his fiance Declan desperately and she has always wanted to give them the world. After seeing an advertisement on tv for “The Wedding Game” she has the chance to do just
I bounced hard on this one. Luna was hard enough to get past. I mean, DIY makes me tired so it's not going to be an appeal anyway. But Luna adds a whole layer of Manic Pixie Dream Girl to the mess and that put me off even further. I wanted someone to pull her aside and ask her, very kindly, to give it a rest, already. So when she completely ignores the warnings of her BFF that her brother already said no and he's not going to like it and she's all going behind his back while weaving a fantasy of...
I had such a fun time with this book! The concept of the wedding game, the bffs (Farrah & Lucas), the siblings and their partners (much 🥰 especially for Cohen & Declan + Naomi is an absolute 💎, Thad was OTT but I guess someone had to be a drama llama and he wore that suit a little too well 😅) ... the whole thing just hit right for me. Right book/right time for a fun steamy read 🙃Soz I can't come up with a better review rn, dunno what's up with my inability to waffle today but I will say I had suc...
