Historic Ontario

Historic Ontario

Ontario Department of Tourism & Information
0/5 ( ratings)
Introduction

This booklet has been prepared in the hope that it will add interest to the travels of Ontario's citizens and tourists visiting our historic province. It does not pretend to give comprehensive coverage to Ontario's history or historic sites. Our public libraries contain many excellent books and periodicals dealing with the regional history of the province for those who wish to pursue the subject in more detail.

However, it is hoped that, by drawing attention to some of the more important historical attractions, a general interest in history will be stimulated. Some regions have received less space than others. This by no means indicates that they are devoid of historical interest. In this small booklet only a sampling can be attempted and since it relies heavily on visual impact, the booklet perforce concentrates on areas where existing historic structures are more frequently found.

Historic sites appeal to Ontario's visitors and residents alike and complement the many other fine attractions of the province. Information on these can be obtained by writing to the Department of Tourism and Information, Queen's Park, Toronto.
