It's sweet. Nothing special. But fun to learn about different flowers and the "birth month."
Sweet book with gorgeous illustrations!
flowers, fairies, bugs!
Visually stunning
Most of us enjoy books that reveal parts of our own personalities or offer a glimpse into the characteristics of someone born during a particular month. Since this picture book celebrates a flower for each month of the year and the attributes of those like me with, say, October births, it would be a good baby gift but also one that would be fun for anyone who likes flowers. It would be entertaining for readers to examine the four lines of rhyming text for each month to see how much of those comm...
A gardener's dream baby gift, sure to be a hit with those who believe in astrology and symbolism, with rhyming descriptors for each month's flower personality. Sweet illustrations featuring fairies whose flowers ultimately fill a lively garden gatefold from which the fairies launch into the world.
This book not only has wonderful water color illustrations, but also lovely little poems that in my opinion almost perfectly describe both the flowers and the people born that month.
The illustrations? Gorgeous! So fun! The prose...is it a picture book? It's not a story! I feel like the success of this book is for someone who loves flowers or someone who might have been named after the flower of their birth month. Other than that is falls flat even for what it is...
Adorable. Perfect for an interactive storytime discussion about the different months we are all born in and why it makes us special.
Wow I absolutely love the illustrations in this book and will be buying it just for those alone. It’s not really a story, more of an arrangement of verse dedicated to each month of the year and the flower that represents it, along with some positive qualities attributed to them. Could be a nice gift for a new baby or as a birthday gift.

Starting with January, this lovely picture book goes month by month to show the flower associated with that month, relating it to the qualities of those born then. Each two-page spread gives the flower name along with rhyming couplets. I like that, no matter which month the reader was born in, they will see positive qualities associated with that month. For example: “April flowers have no fear/born to thrive and persevere” and “August flowers stand up for what’s just./You’re the kind of friend w...
There are typically two flowers for each month and this book only acknowledges one, which is a bit disappointing.
Beautiful flowers and the months they correspond to. Learn about your birth month flower with these colorful and whimsical illustrations.
Nice gift book for new parents.
Illustrations are four or five stars, but I’m not sure this is super relevant for small children. I don’t think my daughter quite got how flowers are assigned to birth months. Maybe an older child would appreciate it more.
Really sweet book. I always love Brigette Barrager's illustrations.
As a girl I loved memorizing the birthstones for each month. But did I even know that there was a birth flower for each month?I found this picture book at the Concord Trees festival. The text reads in verse and butterflies and fairies flit in and out of the pages of birth flowers. Here's my month: June:"The kindest babes are born in June and shine just like the sun at noon. Within your brambles, magic grows, a child, lovely as a rose." The illustrations show the sweetest little fairy babies all
The text is alright but it is the illustrations that really make this book shine to me, they so warm and bright. I also really like the illustrators take on fairies and fairy children. I know some of them have been done before but it was fun to see them interpreted as not only butterfly fairies but also moths and ladybugs. Also, the mermaids looked a bit like goldfish, which was neat.
I can understand how some people may give this a lower review because it's very basic, but I think it's perfect for 2-6 year olds or as a baby shower gift. Each month has a flower and 4 lines (rhyming couplets) about positive (generic) attributes for people born in that month. The illustrations are absolutely stunning with little fairies among the flowers. I'd give this for a baby shower gift
