This is right up my alley for graphic novels. Weird, gore, the unexplained, kick-ass fighter/ killer girl. Read the first issue during my lunch break and going to find the rest of the issues.
Update! Here's my full review: https://bookishrealmreviews.blogspot....This was such a crazy first issue!! I thought it was weird at first but I should have known that I was going to enjoy the paranormal and supernatural elements. The artwork was phenomenal and I’m really looking forward to how the story is going to continue. Since this focuses on a creature that attacks children I’m very curious on how the adults in this comic are going to continue to handle what’s going on especially when they...
Welcome Back!As of writing this post, I hit 100 subscribers on my blog!! I know that may not seem like a big deal but it is a huge deal to me. I am beyond excited and thank you all for reading my posts and just being here. I have been reading and posting a lot for the past few months and I am definitely planning to keep it up! Now, let's talk about my most recent read! This was a graphic novel I saw on my Hoopla app and was super curious about so I clicked borrow and now here we are!SPOILERS AHE...
Now that's a strong first issue.
This has a relatively basic set up. A group of kids are found horrendously murdered, and a few characters need to fight the evil being that's running amok on the woods. We don't actually see these characters do much, other than just coming to terms with their current monster-fighting reality. This first installment was mostly laying down the groundwork for what I'm assuming will be monster battles ahead. There's nothing inherently wrong with this, it just didn't manage to pique my interest for t...
Very interesting book. I'm eager to read the rest of the series. Erica is a very interesting character shrouded in mystery. James is a boy desperate to save his town, and I'm curious to see how he develops through the books. The art is well done, though in the beginning I got the boys confused and by the end I still got two of the adult males confused. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes spooky things.I was given a digital ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Update: I like it better now, glad I tried again. Thanks hoopla Short, kind of boring. I did like how creepy they were. I don’t think I am going to read any more of these though.
I picked this up on a whim, and I'm so glad I did. The protag is a strong, cool woman, and I was immediately there for it - girls that kick monster butt, especially in dark horror settings, are my FAVE. It's very dark and sometimes pretty gore-y, so steer clear if those things aren't for you.
I found this comic fascinating. So much O read four of them in a night. Beautiful drawings, urban phantasy with graphic violence and horror. It resonates with the deepest terrors that we have as children. It reminds me of Stephen King and Clove Barker with a bit of Scooby Doo. I love it and I intend to read the full series as soon as is available.
4.5 stars. So I’m reading along like, ok this is pretty cool so far. A nice mystery going on. Kind of creepy. Then I get to the part where James recaps what happened to the blonde girl. Whoa!!!! I was not ready for that. Heart dropped while turning those pages. Needless to say, def hooked in for issue 2!!
I like the art style but I didn't love the story. I'm not really big on horror but I loved Horrorstor so thought I would give this a try. It's probably not for me personally but I still liked it. 4 🌟. Further review possible
Deeply dark and fascinating beginning to a story. I just picked it up off the shelf on a whim, because the cover was so appealling, and it lived up to it. I'm eagerly awaiting the next issue.
Review of all available issues #1-12 but the series is still ongoing "I'm not a superhero. I'm just a tired, sad lady who knows how to kill these things, and I am going to try my damnedest to end it this time. So what do you say?" Issue 9 This series would be 3 stars because everyone in this town is dumb but Erica Slaughter gets her own badass star. It's like, how many children need to die before they listen to her and actually do something right for once? I love her character design, practic...
Aaah, this is too short. I don't usually read graphic novels but this one's cover is nice and so I thought the content must be equally good. I wasn't wrong. The concept of this novel is so intriguing, dark, and fascinating. It's so atmospheric which is my absolute favorite. I highly enjoyed every part of it that I know I'll read the next issue soon. The art is really good too and I'm surprised that this graphic novel is not widely known. It deserves more readers.I received an e-ARC from the publ...
{3.5/5.0}There's a lot of inspiration needed to come up with a story like this because the instance you pick up this book you find a near resemblance to some of the horror sci-fi you might have come across in a movie or a book but still, it feels like fresh air.So the story revolves around a town where children are gone missing and later found in the woods but too late to be identified.James is the one who got away, but police won't believe what he saw neither his friends, for them, he is the ki...
This is only 30 pages so there’s not a lot to have an opinion on, but what I’ve read I enjoyed and am intrigued.
Comics are not my usual go-to but this was awesome. The heroine of the comic, Erica Slaughter is badass. I love that the comic has such a strong feminine role in it. This comic contained the perfect blend of graphic violence and horror. Overall the illustrations were beautiful. This was a great start to the series and I look forward to reading the others. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Decent art, decent story starter, but it’s nothing special yet. Not that monster hunting can’t be fun, lol.
5 Stars! ★★★★★My curiosity is PEAKED! What is this monster killing the children? Why only children? It’s so huge and dangerous, it could easily kill adults. Who is this blond girl with big eyes who kills monsters and why isn’t she scared? I am all in for this! The art is a wicked good fit for the story. Very gloomy and dark.
That's intriguing. Way better then I thoughts it would be. Thrilling, good suspense, an horror vibes to it as well. I'm in! Let's read the second one!
