About the Author: Alan Edward Nourse [1928?1992] was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He earned a B.Sc. degree in 1951 from Rutgers. From 1951 he started publishing science fiction, and nonfiction on medicine and science. His Sci Fi frequently had a medical theme. He earned a M.D. degree in 1955 from the University of Pennsylvania. His writing for science fiction magazines helped pay for his medical degree. He practiced medicine in North Bend, Washington. As "Family Doctor" he wrote a regular column for Good Housekeeping magazine. Fellow Sci Fi writer Robert Heinlein dedicated "Farnham's Freehold" to Nourse.
