Lennie is an ex-cop and ex-convict with all prejudices that might imply. He has only recently gotten out of jail, but is given a second chance by a gay friend of his live in girlfriend. Their first case seems a professional hit on a small time drug dealer, but that only begins a series of perfect assassinations, including that of the pros who made the first kill. Lennie is connected to the Chicago Outfit and worked underground on the darkest of Chicago streets before going to prison. He is by all measures a man comfortable with violence and his new partner is the opposite of all he is--gay, professional and successful. As the case develops, so does their relationship, but if either thinks they are in control of things they aren't. That role is firmly held by Lennies girlfriend, who in the end has none of the moral hesitation the two men suffer from.
