Health is a state of complete well? being: physical, mental, and emotional. This definition emphasizes the importance of being more than disease free, and recognizes that a healthy body depends upon a healthy environment and a stable mind. Health and illness are greatly interwoven with social position. It is well established that a functioning society depends upon healthy people and upon controlling factors that impact the well being of people. Domestic violence is one such issue which has a bearing on health of those subjected to it. The present volume focuses on myriad dimensions of health and domestic violence. In examining social constructs of health and violence, the contributors seek to address important issues like chemical pollution and health issues, nutrition and issues of fertility and infertility, affordable health care practices, crime against violence, human trafficking and many more. It has contributions from India, Israel, Taiwan, Belgium, Thailand, Portugal and Iran. The volume would be of interest to scholars interested in understanding health from a social science perspective, social workers and public health practitioners.
