I had a battle with my last book but, pleasingly, I was very much in accord with this one. I'm going to blow my own trumpet a bit here but I cleared 440 pages in under a day because the story is just that good. What a good read! Great pacing as we follow the story of the hero in three parallel time spans as we edge towards a resolution. Masterly crafted and a mix of black humour and satire, written with a deep understanding of human nature. So many intriguing characters and so many relevant topics. I saw the author at a book festival almost by mistake as he was on with another author, who I had read and wanted to see. The latter failed to turn up.
