I had just finished Kiley Reid's booki and decided to read this short story. I recognized a little of the style and themes. It was okay.
This is about critical thinking, race, interpreting history--it packs a mighty punch. Take 15 minutes to read this and have something to think about for days after.
Kiley Reid did such a great job with this piece. There’s only so much you can say about A short story without basically spilling all the details but the emotional stakes here were hard hitting. The ending left me hanging but also, it was necessary. Great read!
Fantastic short read. I can’t get enough of Kiley Reid’s work and just wish this was a full length novel!
Excellent short story
After reading "Such a fun age," I wanted to know more of what she had to say, so I picked up this one. It wasn't as good, but still a very important subject that we should all read (take less than half an hour), then feel and think about for a while. It isn’t necessarily just racial, but I myself might hold conveniently fun memories while others remember things I'd nonchalantly said and hurt their feelings... Her stories always make me ask myself if I wasn't acting out of self-love and being sho...

It's a short story actually not a book. But yeah, really nice story.
