Still not really vibing with this and not a huge fan of the magical side and if you want to make it magical there are plenty of mutants with those powers so the the choice just seems a little odd. Better than the first and more cohesive but still not great. As an aside, they really need to kill the dorky 90's Gambit and Jubilee outfits, they are working on developing the characters (especially Jubilee who seems more than a token snarky kid in this) but putting them in those horrendous costumes is...
I feel I can enjoy any issue that includes Apocalypse. He seems to always make the situation a bit more interesting.
I am very into how Apocalypse is being shown in this series. And how others react to him. Some cool stuff happened here, I'm loving all the arthurian magic story stuff. And the end cliffhanger, now they're going to be on a DnD campaign! I'm so into it. Also, I love how Kitty took them to Britain on her boat. That's why marauders #1 had to happen before this. There's a nice, loose continuity so far. I hope that sort of connectivity continues to pay off through the rest of my read-through.
This issue was kid of weak compared to the first but the art is great!
Seal people.
Only slightly better than the last issue -- possibly due to the inclusion of Kate Pryde who has a whale of a time, cracking jokes with Betsy about Excalibur. Ms. Pryde was in the original Excalibur (which I liked better). And yes, once again with the nostalgia from a company that seems to want to get away from that. That said, this does change things up a bit from the past take on Excalibur in that Betsy is Captain Britain. Remy doesn't seem to have much to do outside of worrying over Rogue, who
Don’t like how they have Gambit so lovesick/heartbroken where he cannot see/do what needs to be done for the greater good. Though I do love what’s going on with Apocalypse. Sometimes you forget he loves mutants as much as Xavier and Magneto. He just has a different way of raising them up. But woe unto those that stand in his way of making that happen. Let’s not even get started on his centuries of magic knowledge/power. The man is a force all his own.
An exciting and interesting chapter in a great story arc.
It has potential I won't deny it, but this just isn't for me. I'm out of this one!
I love everything about this issue. I want to read it again and again… - The magical element and infusion of folklore = hell YES - Betsy Braddock kicking ass as Captain Britain. What's not to like? The lady is born to lead. - Yay Captain Kate Pryde! - Gambit, Jubilee and baby Shogo are perfect. Choosing Gambit and Jubilee for the Excalibur line was a great decision by the writer seeing as their mutant superpowers are so very suited for adventures in the Otherworld. - I love the selkies too, even...
Whaaaaaaaat? (view spoiler)[Did Shogo just turn into a fuckin' dragon?! (hide spoiler)]Ok, how the hell is Shogo still a baby? But other than that... Amazing! I'm 100% sold on Excalibur now but still not sure what to make of all of it. I have to admit that Apocalypse being such a main component for the Dawn of X is still really confusing & I'm glad Gambit doesn't trust him because it's gonna take me some time to get used to Apocalypse being on the X team
It's nice having Jubilee back. And character growth for.... Apocalypse(?)
The first issue was weak but this second issue made me care enough to want more of it.Rereading this now that X of Swords is in full swing, this may be a more important book than I though it was because Apocalypse is part of the cast here.
Still an engrossing story, but there were definitely times I had no idea what was going on.
An even stronger issue than the first one, now we get into a smoother plot and a more solid team. Apocalypse is such a strange hero, and his interest in Shogo is unsettling, yes, but it's easier to trust him now. And Shogo? Best member of the team.
