John Welch's first full-length collection contains short poems dating from the late sixties, poems from the early seventies when his writing entered a more consciously experimental phase, and his more recent work which often reflects a concern with city life and urban topography. Born in 1942, Welch teaches in an East London school. He received an Eric Gregory award in 1971, and is editor of The Many Press which he founded in 1976.
