One of the best books I have ever read. This is Kim Holden's best book yet. Deeply moving and simply breathtaking... your emotions will run the gamut and you won't know what hits you as you flip pages, devouring this book. An unforgettable journey that will touch your heart and soul, that will restore faith in human kindness and will make you feel loved and that you matter. Kim has a gift of speaking to the reader that is just so touching and real... this is a book that you will never forget. <3...
5 stars"The most important time to listen is when words are missing, that’s when heart cry out the loudest,”You’re going to cry. You’ve been warned. This was such a heart-wrenching important book. I’ve wanted to read a book by Kim Holden for a while, so I decided to start with this one. And I’m in awe. Her story telling abilities left me in awe. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. It was so heavy, I needed the break, but I couldn’t stop. My emotions was all over the place. I’ve felt everythi...
7/18/19I am sitting next to a pile of tear soaked tissues and my mind is blown. From what I read in the author's notes, this is a very personal book for Ms. Holden. It is incredibly sad to read, I mean I wanted to figure out how to get in my kindle and hug Toby until he believed he was worthy of love. Thank goodness for Alice! Beautiful, talented Alice who life served a giant shit sandwich and she just threw it away and decided to live her life the way she thought she deserved, not how society o...
You cant read this story and escape unscathed, it leaves it's markings on your soul. You can't simply review it because it's not just a story...it's a life lessonKim has the most kindest of hearts and her aura shines like a halo around her. Her openness to embrace everyone, literally and figuratively, gives a sense of safety. To open up, talk, vent out your inner feelings. "People aren’t perfect. It’s not about loving them when it’s easy and convenient; it’s about loving them even more when it...
I don’t care which genre you prefer , this is a must read! Intense and thought provoking. This story is so necessary in this day and time. It’s raw and so real. Unforgettable, heavy content. It’s been 2 1/2 years since Kim’s last book and it was so worth the wait. It’s obvious that she put her blood , sweat , and tears in this book. See you On The Other Side ❤️
5 waah, crying out loud, snuffling, rolls of paper towel consuming but still having a nonstop runny nose, damn! Stop it! I can’t take it anymore, I haven’t cried so much after seeing Di Caprio freezing in the ocean, oh God, after 2 hours I keep crying, “when does this torture end ?” stars! They tell you BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.I got bored to death because of reading soft, sweet, lovely rom-coms in which those characters do silly things, full of clichés, some laughs, ha ha, some resentment a...
Another exceptional novel from Kim Holden that you do not want to miss.I dare say, there is not a person alive that cannot in some way relate to this book. And that's why this novel is so good. It's deep, it's raw, and it's real. Kim wrote one story intertwined with many stories and seamlessly wove it all together. She challenges our perceptions of the world, of people, of what we think we know about life. I fell in love with our hero who carried so much pain, yet did his best to show kindness t...

4 STARSThis isn't an easy book to review,I don't want to give anything away. You should go to this blind because it's better! This one really touched me, it's an emotional and heartbreaking story.I don't think I will be soon ok after reading this one!I had tears in my eyes and still thinking about it, even though I wasn't hooked from the first pages I find it amazing. The Other Side is raw, realistic and heavy. It's a must read and I'm sure once you read it you will think about it for days!
I'm lost for words when I try to describe this book, so I'm going to borrow a quote from the book that sums it up perfectly:"It’s gut-wrenching, and sad, and painful, and severely gorgeous."Toby is one of the most troubled characters I've come across. He is in a constant fight with his inner demons."I wear my depression like a winter coat, zipped up tight to my chin and bulky—a barrier that smothers out the rest of the world." "Well, my anger, resentment, and the perpetual black cloud hanging ov...

*****FIVE+++++++ STARS*****{ARC Generously Provided by Author}Her outstretched arms are an invitation that I gladly walk into. I hug her. The hug lasts minutes. It’s more than an embrace—it’s apologies for the past and promises for the future. It’s solace, and safety, and reassurance, and friendship, and want, and need, and acceptance, and forgiveness. It’s contentment. It’s love.I’m completely blown away by this incredibly poignant and exquisitely written story. ”THE OTHER SIDE” deals with very...
5 stars “People aren’t perfect. It’s not about loving them when it’s easy and convenient; it’s about loving them even more when it’s hard.” I've read every book of Kim Holden's and what I love about her stories is they're always different and special. Her writing is truly a gift and the way she can tell a story is like no other. The Other Side is an important read. It's heart-wrenching, focuses on difficult topics, and is a book that needs to be read. This book focuses on 17 year o...
Genre: Young Adult FictionType: StandalonePOV: First Person – Multiple, mostly maleRating: Toby Page never had much to look forward to all his life. Growing up with a deadbeat mother, he always believed he was useless and unwanted. But things started to look up when Alice Eliot moved into the building he worked in. She made him dare to dream, but lifelong emotional abuse might not be enough to reverse his beliefs. Some people are born to do great things, to leave a mark, to simply be great.
ALL THE STARSThere are books that you love, books you enjoy, and every once in while, there are books that you know will stay in your heart for the rest of your life. The Other Side by Kim Holden was absolutely brilliant. Heartbreaking, breathtaking, soul shattering. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.“There are people we meet in this world who anchor us. They reassure us with their presence. They bring us comfort simply by being. They love us by osmosis, radiating it out and diffusin...
4 STARS!! My sadness is mine and it shouldn't bleed all over anyone else. Short review: The Other Side was jam-packed with real issues and beautiful prose; it will make you think and it will make you cry. If you're interested in learning more about depression and trauma, I'd highly recommend this one! My mother was a yeller.I'm not. Yelling twists my guts and fills my head with obnoxiously loud static. It makes me sweat. Longer review: The Other Side is probably not the b...
Five Stars*****Thank you Kim Holden for another great story that will save lives, give readers hope and tears and understanding. won’t accept a future that’s nothing short of “fiercely passionate and wildly beautiful.”
Well, this had some similarities to another book I have read by this author, Bright Side, and unfortunately I liked that book better. Both books have a main female character who is in a band and is supposed to be “very deep” and insightful. Both books are meant to be equal parts upsetting and uplifting. I’m not sure it quite struck that balance in this book though. I found myself a little annoyed at how heavy handed the book dealt with various issuesTrigger warnings: (view spoiler)[direct and/or...
4 “You’re Worth Fighting For” Stars!(ARC provided by Wordsmith Publicity)-“The most important time to listen is when words are missing, that’s when heart’s cry out the loudest.” Toby Page is a 17 yr. old high school student living in 1987 in Denver, Colorado. He’s never had a real home, and works doing some light maintenance in exchange for a roof over his head. Tortured by memories and nightmares of moments that forever altered his life, Toby is held hostage by his depression. He’s a loner w...
