Wow. In all my years, I've never read such an atrocity before.. What exactly was the hype about!? A whiny woman who contradicts herself over and over again???I'm going to start apologizing for buying this book and attempting to read this.
I have nothing nice to say about this book
Nothing particularly new or earth-shattering but definitely motivational. And while she has received some criticism for the faith themes in this book, that's what appealed to me.
Read both back to back
I'm not even sure I can write an accurate review because I couldn't finish the book. And I RARELY do that. First, not to throw stones but I personally don't think this should be marketed as a Christian book because she seems to only occasionally use scriptures and then it's to validate her. I feel like if anyone is really struggling and they get this book for answers, they will be disappointed. Hollis is a cheerleader and not a life coach. Her saying get up and change your attitude sites not alw...
I'm not usually into this type of self-help book. So thanks to our book group for selecting it so I could expand my horizons. What won me over was that it felt almost like a memoir at times. Her story-- growing up with a father who belittled her and an older brother who took his own life; coming from an extremely rural and evangelical home, and then moving to the big city to try to make it big--is what really made it worth reading for me. I think I would have just as well pieced together the les...
this book was the whitest book i've ever read. lol i mean this person definitely has anxiety issues and it makes me anxious just reading this book. There were some good advice, but it seems this book is for the most anxious non self-aware rich white lady people out there person to calm down..and stop thinking crazy things and do you and stop tearing other people down! The doctor told her to do nothing! and shes doing a whole bunch of crap! ooops i judge i think that' s one thing i will try to ta...
Girl, Wash Your Face is a refreshing, enlightening read about women power, stripped bare with layers of lies, clothed anew with life's sunshine. Rachel Hollis' brutal honesty speaks volumes about how the potential power of women to rise and be the person they aspire to become are overshadowed by varying degrees of lies--put up as excuses. It's as if the author can see right through me.Let me tell you that I've experienced facial paralysis as well. It was one of the most depressing times of my adu...
Puts life in perspective. What matters most. She relies heavily on her faith in Jesus, which can easily be substituted for all that is, if you aren't Christian or believe in more spiritual takes like Pam Grout and the powers of the universe.
I do not understand why so many people gave this book such low reviews. People claiming the author was trying to force her point of view on them. I got a completely different notion. Throughout the book Rachel was vulnerable. Shared the good and the bad about herself; her life experiences; her life. It was touching and eye opening and reminded me I'm not alone in my thoughts and experiences. I actually wish she had a FB group because I would love to meet liked minded women, living in their truth...
Nice to try something new with a bookclub recommendation, but this isn’t my type of book.
Vapid. Not worth the time.
Refreshingly honest and open about her life...and her struggles. As a Christian, I welcomed her views on accepting all types of friends into her family's life. The fact that diversity makes us stronger, and happier! She offers a number of great take-aways, and reminds us that if we don't slow down, life will slow us down. It's time to enjoy the important things in life!
I loved both of these books! I am a huge Rachel Hollis fan. She is vulenrable, hilarious, and insightful. I love her message and can't get enough of her content!
