Very entertaining. And what a twist! Enjoyed it!
Great thriller with a twist! This was a total page-turner that kept me guessing throughout! Sharp, funny, and suspenseful, with a twist I didn't see coming. I thoroughly enjoyed Freida McFadden's last book The Surrogate Mother, and I liked this one even more. Highly recommended!
Ending was confusing and poorly written. There was no ending. The book was not clever and the ending was stupid. Too many plot holes and the female characters were not believable.
Another fab read from Freida McFadden. This one centres on the relationship breakdown of handsome Dr Joel and him meeting someone new. Told from the pov of “the ex” and “the new girl” jealousy and hatred spills and the new girl finds herself under target in her home and work. This book has a fab twist which I didn’t see coming and loved it to the last pages
This book is interesting starting out. Then it begins to get less so. Then its a bit confusing honestly. I liked it enough to finish it but it got a bit convoluted in the end. I suppose it was a little too elaborate of a twist for my simple tastes. Ha ha. I probably won't do another one of this author's books.
I really REALLY enjoyed this book. I am usually pretty good at figuring out the killer in thriller books, but this one really had me. I never would have guessed who the crazy ex was. The plot was great, the twist at the end was awesome. The author did amazing with the dialog and the two point of views. The way she had the two timelines coinciding together really made me believe that a specific person was the crazy ex. This is an absolute must read. I don't want to spoil anything with spoilers. J...
4.5 stars! Love her writing style and I definitely did not guess the ending. Ending was so-so, but unexpected. One by One is definitely my favorite book of hers so far, but this one was super enjoyable!!
In The Ex the chapters alternate telling the story between the ex and the new girl. The new girl is Cassie, a young 28 year old woman who took over her grandparents used bookstore after they died. The bookstore is not making much business and her friend and co owner Zoe is always coming up with ideas. Joel is a 38 yr old hot looking doctor that walks into the bookstore to buy the book Wurthering Heights for his mom’s birthday. Zoe sets them up and after the first date they hit it off. During the...
That one night: she thought he was proposing; he thought they were breaking up.Was there someone else? Not yet.“Much more than I ever hated Joel, I came to hate this nameless, faceless woman. I wanted to get back at him for what he did to me. That was my intention from the beginning. When Joel dumped me that night, he took away my entire life—my home, my friends, my dignity. I could never get any of that back. All I wanted was to even the score. I never meant to kill anyone. I swear.” (11)Present...
"The Ex" should not be "ex-ed" off your "to read" list. It's a fast-paced and ultra-compelling book that will make you think twice before dating any person, even if he/she is a HD (hot doctor).I especially enjoyed the way the author structured the book with alternating POVs of a HD's new girlfriend and his ex-girlfriend.The book was a 5-star read for the first 80% of the book. Unfortunately, the book's ending was convoluted and deeply flawed. To avoid spoilers, additional details are not being
Very well and twisted written. However the ending wasn't satisfying to me. I absolutely hated male character, who abandoned his older gf and dated OW. I wished he died. Dead, I wanted him dead!!!!! The ex's identity shocked me. I thought she was F. At 80% I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall. Why didn't they kill the man??! He left his gf of many years!!! Not that he got a HEA, but I expected a bloody mess with him in the middle as a victim. Since I won't spoil, or did I???, I shut up now...
🌟🌟🌟🌟1/2 starsThis was a truly interesting story. I read it in one sitting. It's about a jilted women that I'm not sure I even liked, but there was something about her that I was able to connect with. She dated Joel for ten years, giving him everything while he becomes a doctor. She thinks he's going to marry her and have a family. He's breaking up with her. That's how the book starts. It gets better... trust me. It gives new meaning to the word unreliable narrator. It was hard to keep track of t...
That rating is because this book pissed me off. It was engaging and compulsively readable. Didn't see the twist coming. But then the timeline got wonky and you had to think way too hard about previous chapters. And while I appreciate the antagonist's initial motive, I FUCKING HATE the secondary motive of "woman goes crazy because she can't have more babiezzzzz".Also, how stupid do you have to be to run a failing bookstore that sometimes has no customers, just med students asking for medical text...
It is a good thing I read The Surrogate Mother first, because in comparison, The Ex is like a convoluted first draft written by a middle school teenager with a deranged personality, untrained grammatical errors included.Don’t waste your time. Unless you enjoy reading fantasyland rantings about relationships with only rich and beautiful people that end up in murder/suicide with odd words stuck in sentences, especially pronouns that don’t fit, so you are forced to re-read the sentences to figure o...
I am reviewing this book after receiving a free copy from Hidden Gems Books.Rating: 3.5This book has me thinking about so many different things. Which one of them is crazy! An ex against the new girlfriend! Never a great situation but when the twist was revealed I was so shocked and thought this would be a 5 star read. I didn't even see it coming. But sadly I was so disappointed by the ending that I couldn't rate it as highly. Although I wish the ending had been different I did enjoy the rest of...
