Still really enjoying the artwork and the bits from the original show that stayed the same. Not liking the changes so much, I'd recommend this series more for teens or adults who have never seen the original show. I think this is my personal stopping point.
Ok, I think the author needs to re-watch and read everything pertaining to the Buffy-verse. Growth is there for a reason. Yes, we are in 2019, but there is still growth from the 90s you can transfer to now. That does not mean you can completely get rid of characters, change personalities, or better yet, get rid of witty dialogue, or meld character traits together in order to push whatever personal agenda you have. Characters are created with their traits to form and aid specific story arcs. Gett...
★★★★★ — 5 Stars! It was full of action and I loved it! Nothing else really to say.
A little short and a bit more Xander and Willow would be nice but I’m enjoying where this reboot is going. Well done guys!
1.5I just can't stand the dialogue and I think the author shouldn't have tried to mimic Whedon's wit and snark because they failed at that and the Scooby Gang just sounds really dumb and fake. Kind of annoying too that some of the characters really look like the actors who portrayed them whereas some are unrecognizable. This just feels like really poor fanfiction and not a reboot or "modern take" at all.
I would die for the love of this giant monster bat. He's the kind of pet I need. Also Cordelia is rocking it. I love Charisma Carpenter's classic mean girl ice queen version of the character but this kinder more sincere version is cool as hell too. And I love that Buffy immediately gets backup from civilians in a town way too used to this spooky shitFave moment:"Do you think it escaped from the zoo or something?""It's a giant talking bat, Harmony. What do you think?"
This issue finally has some action and let me tell you, I have missed it greatly. Every episode of Buffy was action-packed, so having the first few issues that were essentially the first 15 minutes of an episode made me scratch my head a little. One thing I would like to know: when did Willow and Xander get so proficient at fighting? While I can't really be sure of how much time has passed between each issue, I can only assume that the events of one immediately follow the one before it. Willow a...
Hey it's me, just here reviewing another one of these delightful comics. Who else is here for all the fashion choices in this series? Xander and Willow rocking up in an AC/DC shirt and all black had me loving this and basically grinning, I love me a good punk vibe to this series. Even Buffy is getting in on this, she had Vans on and I love that in a person. The plot is very comic short but I think that's how comics are, and I did enjoy seeing a small piece of lore we didn't see in the show (Buff...
This issue threw me almost completely off balance. While I was still able to enjoy it, it seemed like I'd skipped an issue (I checked, I haven't) This is my first real foray into the Buffy-verse, and one of the main reasons I chose now is because I thought the comic starting over at a #1 with a fresh story would make it accessible to newcomers. And it still is, I think, it just feels like it's accessible to newcomers who pay very close attention and re-read issues multiple times. (Maybe they tak...
I really am loving the reinterpretation of Buffy from the beginning, especially not just how "woke" the characters are, but that they're ready to fight from day one. This issue wasn't as much fun just because it was the "big battle" and an issue that is basically one long fight scene has never been my thing. Though I really can't wait for the next issue, SO MANY questions, like why is Dru actually pretty sane? Are Darla and Angel going to pop up? And is Xander going to die in the next issue? Bec...
I've said it once, I've said it twice, and I've probably said it more than that, but I will am a Buffy fan so my reviews can be biased. I kind of don't care for this series anymore, I was beyond hype for it, but I don't like the new characterizations of my favorite villains. I'll still read the comic though, because Buffy. I do not like what they are doing to Spike. His character is supposed to be opposite of Angel, yet I am getting Angel vibes from him. Does he have his soul or something?I like...
Hot damn!Another great issue. I love the ancient warrior bat that comes to help the Slayer!! Such a rad twist to add into the mix. Really enjoyed this issue.
