Better then the second but not s good as the first. I think I'm done with this series. Some aspects of it are really great like the general concept, the arts, the mythology in it and some characters, but the overall pace is way too slow, the Gods are not present enough, and it seem to me like we get lost in going a bit here and there. The series worth looking at, read the first and then look if you want to continue, the first one definitely worth it, I think some readers will enjoy the continuit...
It's really incredible how there can be so much life and color in these black and white illustrations. Can't wait to see where it goes from here.
4.1
Tbh a little more boring than the others but the art still FIRE
For some reason I thought this was the last book in the series (too used to trilogies) so I was confused at how it ended and was correct in thinking it could not be wrapped up in time, lol. Still great art, and some more intriguing world-building.
Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss.
I was so glad to get back to Petit's story and see the previous two volumes converge here. I think Bear's backstory was more interesting than the prose bits in either Petit or Half-Blood. The art continues to be fantastic. This series is such a great callback to old cautionary folk tales, while being its own unique narrative. Still a pretty big content warning on the gore, though.
I eagerly awaited a third volume of this series and I've finally read it. It was not what I was expecting. Unlike the previous two, which do not directly follow each other, this one starts at the end of the first (the second ending shortly before the first). Sala is captured by Yori and Petit is rescued by Lours/Bear, the eponymous Grand Homme/Great Man, who wants him to save the country from the chaos it's been plunged into after the death of its giant rulers. You'd think having some establishe...
This series is getting better with each volume. This third story focuses on a rebel general named Bear while pulling the first two books together. Petit is on the run from the chancellor. He has overthrown the giants and is looking to install Petit as a puppet king. Petit is on the run with the rebels. I really liked the character of Bear. I was even tempted to read the prose backstory that frequently interrupts the book. The art is incredibly detailed. The black and white art brings to mind Ger...
