I was ssssoooo waiting for this sequel from the moment I finished “Sin and Chocolate,” wanting to know what would happen next with Lexie and Kieran. Things are looking up for Lexie thanks to her new job with Kieran. There is finally enough food in the house. Her wards Mordecai and Daisy are acting like typical spoiled teenagers now that they can (these two totally steal the show whenever they appear on page.) And Author KF Breene brings her fun quirky voice to every scene, making this paranormal...
I jumped straight into the second novel in this series. There were some definite improvements from the first one. I was mostly looking for more plot with the world building. The recaps of the first novel, internal monologue and the banter between characters could still be refined. The action does pick up and Lexi does more with her powers. I like her friendship with Bria. Bria is hilarious! The kids take a back seat in this one, which makes sense with the plot points of Lexi fighting for Kieran’...
On book 3 now! I recommend reading back to back.
4 StarsI’ve been on this paranormal binge and lately I have been liking slow burn reads. BUT this my friend is no slow burn. Wow.I’m not sure if doing the audio version was best for me. For one thing, I kind of pay attention, but then sometimes I don’t. So this one wasn’t as understandable as the first one was since I read the first one instead of listening to it. As to the narrator. She’s fine. I prefer a higher pitched female voice because Khristine Hvam doesn’t sound like a 25-year-old, but o...
Originally posted at: My Rating: two and a half starsThis novel started off good but by the middle it started dragging on. There's only so much a secondary character can do to keep me interested in the story. If it wasn't for the narrator this novel would have probably ended as my first DNF of 2019.Alexis has a great sense of humor, but what came off as an ability to drive people in circles and make them believe things were moving in the right direction turned into being dragged along into da...
3.5 stars.Everything was going great. Alexis is working, Mordecai and Daisy are training. They get FOOD and rent is paid. Bria is like that co-worker not quite friend that goes beyound the boss' instructions. While they end up being right, this path always includes hiding under beds, closets, attics and barely escaping with your life. This book was entertaining and I was very happy...until Alexis drops to her knees for Kieran. I had to dock this one a half star, I was tempted to dock it a full s...
The sex was worth the wait but I need more. Why isn't the next one out already?!
Love this author! Great plot, strong heroine, fun chactersK.F. Breene is on the very short list of authors I AUTOBUY. No other info needed. This 2nd book in the series does not dissapoint. Completely recomended
Book 2 pretty much continues on from the first installment. I was laughing from the get go, K.F. Breene has a sarcastic sense of humor that appeals to my inner child and keeps me reading for more. So, I've just come off a marathon read of a Deborah Harkness trilogy that had way too much historical detail. Sin and Magic was a good read to unwind with. I read it fairly quickly and for the most part it was smooth going. The underlying plot hummed along but didn't really capture my interest unlike th...
I'm so disappointed. I absolutely loved the first book in this series, and am so underwhelmed by the second installment. Lexi and Kieran were just boring. I didn't feel any of the Book 1 heat between them. I am so tired of "omg so naturally beautiful" heroines. I feel like I was beaten over the head with just how stunningly amazingly gorgeous Lexi was. And the fact that she wore little to no makeup was mentioned again and again. How it that relevant to anything? And Kieran's "six- but almost eig...
Really good series! This series is getting more interesting with each book, but it definitely needs to be read in order. I can't wait to start reading the next book!
Having agreed to work with demigod Kieran Alexis knows her life will never be the same. She can't turn her back on the ghosts that his father has trapped but she worries about putting her two adopted children at risk so her decision is weighing heavily on her. Kieran has vowed to keep her safe and he's followed through on his promises to help Alexis' family and to provide protection for them all but deep down he knows that if his father discovers what they're up to then Kieran might not be power...
2,5The h is TSTL, she had no back bone. She is pushed around by everyone! Writing this review now I'm question my one rating! 🤔🤔🤔
"You're beautiful," he murmured against my lips. "When I first saw you, I thought you were trying to disguise your beauty with the rough clothing. Trying to blend in with your surroundings. It seemed so daft. A creature like you was not made to fit in, you were made to stand out. To draw notice. Your angelic face, your easy confidence, your incredible magic - you are one in a million and it pains me that you have to be hidden away from admiring eyes."My body felt as light as air. I hadn't though...
The characters made me laugh out loud with their crazy talk, especially the supporting ones. Loved it.
5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 - The action and the romance between Lexi and Kieran made this a far superior read to its predecessor!Book two in the Demigod of San Francisco series by K.F. Breene, Sin & Magic picks up directly after the closing events of the first book Sin & Chocolate and is not designed to be read as a standalone novel.I wasn't expecting much from this book, as I found the first book to be well written, but incredibly slow moving and not much action delivered. I was pleasantly surprised to find that
Spoilers ahead, 3.5*In the beginning of this one we get recaps of the previous book and I wasn't a fan. I think books that continue from previous ones shouldn't contain information already covered, however that didn't last longI actually like the secondary characters much more than the mcs, the guys of the six, Mordecai and especially Daisy and Bria are what caused me to rate this book so highlyAlexis the fmc has some good moments but she suffered From betraying body syndrome so I quickly became...
Liked but also disliked certain events.I enjoyed the book but it didn’t feel as exciting as the first book. I devoured the first book. This one I took my time reading but found myself not liking how Kieran kept pushing Alexis away. Like he loves her but doesn’t help her. Alexis has this power that isn’t like others but that he hires Bria a necromancer to help her with. My issue is no one can do what Alexis does and they keep acting like she has to do things the exact same way as them when that’s...
Good book
3.5 stars.Better than book #1.
