My Son, My Son: Life is Fleeting

My Son, My Son: Life is Fleeting

Have you ever been so busy or preoccupied that you missed sharing precious moments of a loved one's life? Have there been things left unsaid? Are there parts of yourself that you would have uncovered? Is there breath in you that you would breathe into them? Is it too late, has the moment been lost? I raised twin sons as a single professional. I invested myself into ensuring their well being and in ensuring the success of my career. My sons and my job, the two great loves of my life. Both a sacrifice, both sacrificed, I focused on their necessities. I fed them. I clothed them. I learned to be an advocate for them. I matured as they were maturing. Often, I was preoccupied with life at hand and missed opportunities to focus on life to come. My book, My Son, My Son, is a composite of nuggets gleaned from my experiences. Experiences that were often times wrought in adversity and cradled in love by my family, friends, strangers and my God. I deem them of value and significance and would sorely like to share them with my sons and other's sons and daughters that my life might be a stepping stone for theirs. I recently retired as an executive in information technology and had been in that field for thirty five years. My career afforded me the opportunity to grow, expand and achieve beyond what I or most others would have dreamed for me. It has been a blessing, but in some ways it has also consumed my life. Consequently, my time was often devoured and my passions were deferred. The content of this book is relevant to anyone. I believe it depicts a parents heart, sharing treasures gleaned from our life's journey and a charge to persevere and to press on.
