2017 saw the introduction of the Teaching Excellence Framework in the UK. The process was designed to enable parity o f esteem between those who teach and those who research, and to inform student choice. Institutions were provided with a range of benchmarked data and were asked to provide a statement as to how they met the criteria of the TEF.
