This is a great read! Particularly for those, like me, from New England, for its historical content....
Poems and illustrations explore the historical sense of staging life through objects and words...............Susan Howe is master poet. She belongs to a different tradition that connects the classics with the historical. In her poetry, essays and documents blends until they disappear in a poetic voice. One needs to remember the many verses Homer spent on describing shields. For Howe, the material is the archive. In doing that, she brings them back to life without loosing their old meaning.
