After staying up until 1 in the morning to finish book 1 I was eager to dig into book 2. I was at work today and had to go out in my lunch break, but luckily I finished early today so once I got home at 3.30 I got to sit down and get stuck in. By 5.00 I was over halfway through. This one is 50 pages longer than book 1, coming in at 308 pages, but that is still not a lot for me. I stopped for dinner then picked the book up again and was finished by 7.00. Once again I had powered through it, swept...
Okay, so after finishing Gregor the Overlander, I couldn’t wait to get to the second installment. I was left wondering at the aftereffects of Gregor’s return. How did he tell his mom about his adventures and how did she react? By the end of the first book I was just as worried as Gregor was about his return. Unfortunately, home life hasn’t gotten any easier for Gregor and his family. Economically, they’re still struggling and emotionally they’re still dealing with the mysterious happenings of Un...
Another great book in this series.Read to my son who is enjoying it.Better than the first, in my opinion.
It has been a few months since Gregor and Boots traveled to the Underland to save their father and finish the last prophecy. When Boots is kidnapped, Gregor must travel back to the Underland and undertake a quest of a new prophecy where he must kill the bane that threatens to destroy all. Can he accomplish this task? Read this and find out for yourself. This was a pretty good read. It had tons of adventures and learning to believe in yourself. I look forward to continue this series with Book 3 in...
THIS SERIES...so good. I have no words. Not going to write a long review for this one, but I loved all of it. It’s dark, it’s heartbreaking, it’s violent; but it’s also so heartwarming, and real, and it just addresses so many things that I would not expect in a middle grade. Which makes me wish there was even more hype surrounding this series. I feel like Gregor has grown so much as a character in this book. He’s also gone through a lot of trauma and I sort of hate Bartholomew Sandwich for ruini...
"Allow me to translate," said Twitchtip, not even bothering to move. "She said if you don't stop your incessant babble, the big rat sitting in the boat next to you will rip your head off." Wow. My emotions. The first time I read this book, it was on audio because it was always checked out from my local library. And I distinctly remember lying on my bed, with my portable CD player next to me, listening to the end of this book with tears in my eyes. The impact this story had on me is crazy. Some of
Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane (Underland Chronicles, #2), Suzanne CollinsGregor and the Prophecy of Bane is a novel with many elements of high fantasy, and the second book in Suzanne Collins's critically acclaimed The Underland Chronicles. It was published in 2004. The novel focuses on a prophecy mentioned at the end of Gregor the Overlander which the Underlanders believe requires the protagonist Gregor to hunt down and kill an evil white rat known as the "Bane". It is told in third person.تار...
Howard and Mareth are way too awesome. Really, really love this one.
I wish I knew a 10-12 year old boy I could recommend this series to. The story line is great. Our hero Gregor who is probably about 12 discovers an underground world filled with pale humans who haven't seen the light of day in forever, along with lots of giant rodents, roaches and bats. Pretty cool. Not too scary. This is Book #2 in a series so you know the hero survives. He's flawed and his family life is far from perfect. My favorite character continues to be Boots. Love her interactions with
I love this series so freaking much. THG really cannot even compare in my opinion.Pros- CHARACTERS. Wow, I love everyone so much. I could talk about Gregor for hours. He is so empathetic and courageous, but also completely fallible. He makes mistakes and has to correct his behavior/actions so many times throughout the book, and he's such a better character for it. Twitchtip completely stole my heart. What an incredible individual to include in this story. Technically part of the "wrong" side but...
Unputdownable again. Did not cry in this book but was breathing hard all the way. Heart was racing hard indeed. The plot twist, the new characters and the Underland itself - as blown away as the first book. Onwards to the next prophecy!
