In this terrifying short story, John "Johnny-Boy" Sabers finds himself in a tough spot. As a guard on the night shift at a military production plant, he overhears his coworkers talking about a "haunted building" before briefing. Stupidly - not thinking about being terrified of the dark, even as a grown man - he claims his coworker's talk to be rumor. The pressure sets in on Johnny- Boy when his coworkers begin calling his bluff. Fortunately, for him, the decision has already been made by fate. The love of John's life - Rachael Stilner - enters the building in an attempt to rescue a little girl, but John, after a chilling confirmation that the building is, in fact, haunted, knows that the little girl's intention is to lure Rachael into the building. Faced with two options, neither satisfying, John goes in after her.
