The McGrath Chronicles: Holiday Cards and Letters 1994-2015

The McGrath Chronicles: Holiday Cards and Letters 1994-2015

Dennis McGrath
0/5 ( ratings)
It all began with a couple of silly holiday card photos. en Dennis started writing a traditional
year-end chronicle of family life and the times in which we live. ere?s a good story about what prompted Dennis to pen the rst letter. You?ll probably need to buy Dennis a beer to get him to tell you about it, but it would be worth it. Sue read and edited the letters each year as soon as Dennis drafted them. Sometimes she laughed, sometimes she cried, sometimes she sighed. Lots and lots of pictures were taken. Patrick, Katie, Bubba, Fiona and Kerby posed, sometimes reluctantly, for the pictures. All in all, they were good sports about the whole thing. And no one got seriously hurt in the process, either. Dennis usually edited the pictures. Cards were made with the photos and the letters were photocopied . ese were then mailed to friends, family, and 25-30 other people who just heard about the letters asked to be on the mailing list. Eventually there was not much left to say in the letters, so then there were just more silly holiday card photos. Sue saved all the cards and letters and put them in a box. In 2008, 2011 and 2012 Sue thought about creating a book from them as a family memento. In 2015 she declared, ?this will be the year I make that book!? You might wonder what took so darn long. Well that?s another good story, and if you buy Sue a beer, she might just tell you all about it. In 2017 Sue nally designed the book. e photos in the background were taken over the years at the McGrath family homes in Medford, NJ and Hartland, VT.
