The aim of this volume is to present within a modest compass an account of the history of the Chahamanas from the very heeinnine of their political career right upto the end of the 12th. century A. D. They had a long history for well over 6 co
vears. much of which, however, is vague, uncertain and incomplete. At the same time, although the scattered and disarranged mass of historical data about the Chahamanas, which are often conflicting and controversial and, at times, contradictory, have been pieced together, no attempt has been made so far to re-
construct, with their help, a harmonious whole and bring before the reader’s eye a complete picture of their achievements and failures.
