In the Greek division a representation of vases and statuettes of the best epochs can be viewed, and the specimens of ancient glass will interest those who delight in rare forms and iridescence.

The metal department includes old copper and brass vases of Spain, France, Russia, Holland, Italy, and Persia. The array is an unusual sight. A few Barye bronzes, some European cabinet pieces, and a number of Japanese metal works complete the survey of the four afternoons of sales.

At different times when buying these various objects I applied the intelligence then possessed, to the selection always of a veritable specimen of art that was beautifulor interesting, or both. I have given and arranged to have written in this catalogue a brief description of each lot. No claim for the supremacy of any specimen is made. The collection simply represents a personal pref erence when an object was sought for a new note in a cabinet, or to aid in the embellishment of a vacancy in a room.
