Louis, Lily, and Laurent have been friends for most of their lives. When Lily and Laurent start dating, not only does Louis feel left behind, because of his unspoken love for Laurent, but Laurent also begins acting oddly, and it seems Louis may be in the best position to help...
“Some Assembly Required isn’t merely a comic. It’s real life on the page, the highs and the lows.” - Jamieson Wolf, author of Lust and Lemonade
"I have never binge-read a comic series until I discovered Some Assembly Required. There is so much depth and meaning in every frame." - Cait Gordon, author of Life in the ‘Cosm
"‘Some Assembly Required’ is an engaging and compelling story that has kept me captivated from the first episode. It explores a number of sensitive topics in a realistic and sensitive way, from growing up as a LGBTQ+ teen, to dealing with parental neglect/abuse, to living with mental illness. Frechette is telling an important story, without falling victim to the stereotypical clichés that are so rampant in the genre. The minimalist art style is unique, and is perfectly suited to the style of story telling. One of my favourite aspects of the art is the subtle shift in style from chapter to chapter; Frechette uses different line qualities, tonal textures, and lighting styles to set the mood for each part of the story, immersing you in the scene before you’ve even begun reading. The characters, especially our main character Louis, are real and relatable; you will find yourself engaged in their lives and their struggles, and though you may not agree with their actions, they are always understandable. They are not idealised or exaggerated, they are not caricatures; they are real people making hard decisions. ‘Some Assembly Required’ is a wonderful and important story, and I look forward to seeing where Louis and his friends are headed in the next issue!" - Alyssa Cooper, author of 'The Witches of Armour Hill'
