In the absence of nuclear warfare a rendition of an altered dimension during the closing days of World War II. When President Truman authorizes Operation Downfall, the largest invasion in the history of mankind. 

We begin our story with introducing the characters of Fox Company 1st Marine Division during the training phase of the operation. Chris Foley, a decorated veteran who has spanned several years in the Pacific is the company sergeant. The Marines are not aware that their final fate is the treacherous landings at Echo Beach. This becomes the center focus point for enemy fire as several members of Fox work their way through obstacles and obstructions. 

Our second chapter covers the initial air war before the amphibious landings, becoming attached to veteran fighter pilots Captain John Burgard and Lieutenant Robert Fuchs. Routine patrols over the south Pacific have become increasingly difficult because the barbarity that the Japanese defenders. "It is said that in combat nanoseconds make the difference between life and death." This is especially true during the quick thinking required in aerial combat, and is proved with the aircraft of Lt. Fuchs is damaged and Captain Burgard talks his wing man back to the deck of the USS Yorktown. 

In the third chapter, we learn about the secret raid to capture enemy blueprints inside the Rhineland the heart of Nazi Germany. Lead by Major Jack Connolly and a group of the CIA's best informative. Inserted at night to allow the unit to operate in stealth, they are successful in capturing plans that cause a domino effect in the American government and convinces the President that immediate action is required. 

On the shores of Echo Beach, the Marines are tested and almost forced into defeat because of the complexities of the enemy positions. The roar of naval cannons and aircraft are heard overhead when the boats crash into large waves and the salt water of Japan begins to fill the vehicles. The commands of Lieutenant Offerman are heard by those coming onshore, and the despair of Private Davis is felt when he decides to jump into the ocean and swim to the coastline. Within the span of a few hours, engineers clear the obstructions and allied tanks begin to gain ground and the Japanese are pushed away from their original firing positions. 

In the night prior to our invasion the members of Charlie Company 82nd Air Borne land behind enemy lines to disrupt enemy infrastructure, bridges, phone lines, and cause panic in homeland Japan. Lead by Staff Sergeant Gomez they are effective in capturing a key crossing point at the small Japanese city of Kochi. 

The battlefield becomes increasing gritty as we shift into urban combat in the bombed landscape of southern Japan. The key battles of Fukuoka and Yokohama take place in the final chapters of our story. In Fukuoka elements of Fox and Charlie companies conjunct to defeat pockets of resistance scattered throughout the lonely city. During the battle of Yokohama a large column of allied tanks moving north meets a larger axis force moving south. This battle last several months as both sides operate strategically until the last man is utilized. 

The final chapter is the battle for downtown Tokyo, again the Marines are tasked to land on enemy territory at the bay surrounding the cities main airport. Lead by Major Luis Reese Fox Company moves from cover to cover but is pinned by a machine gun nest located at an abandoned air traffic control tower. Air support is called in to remove the defenders around the airport and key locations are captured on the ground. The remaining members of Fox Company return to their families and home towns and several are awarded decorations for their actions.
