A fun, little prequel comic to the TV show Black Sails! Black Sails is my favorite show of all time and when I stumbled across a way to finally read this comic written by one of the main actors of the show (Schmitz portrays Jack Rackham), I was excited to read it. This is a very short story (only 18 pages) and thus there isn't a lot going on, but I did enjoy getting to see Jack and Anne's first meeting, and Jack outwitting annoying people who look down on him. I also really liked the little nod
Toby Schmitz is a visionary. I love his version of how Jack and Anne met. This adds a new layer to their story and makes me love Black Sails that much more
I don't normally read graphic novels, but I enjoyed this one. It's written by Toby Schmitz, who plays Jack Rackham (the notorious pirate captain from history) on the TV series Black Sails. His four years on the show presumably made him think about how his character first met Anne Bonnie, his partner. Although short, this story is clever, sharp, and tender. Presumably because the author is an actor, we learn as much from what is unsaid as what is said. You can read it all for free here:http://www....
Read the digital version - a little hard to follow the story flow, but a really good read into Jack and Anne's history. I love that the actor who portrayed Rackham on Black Sails is the author of this story/comic, and created it as a way to understand his character and the relationship he had with Anne.A great comic with a simple colour palette in an older style of illustration.
