Life is great for Jennifer Ryan, good friends, family she actually enjoys seeing, and she's just been made vice president of the hottest advertising agency in New York. But that all changes when she meets the stunningly handsome Joseph and she is plunged into a world of sex, politics, and murder. But not necessarily in that order.
Writing sample:
Jennifer and Joseph kiss their way along the corridor. After previously kissing their way up the elevator. And before that kissing their way through a car ride. With Joseph having difficulty keeping his eyes on the road they both thought it was best to divert to whichever of their apartments was closest.
Jennifer fumbles in her handbag for her keys. It's amazing how difficult such a simple task is when someone is nibbling on your neck. After a few failed attempts to get the key in the lock, Jennifer sure hopes Joseph won't have a similar problem later, they don't so much as enter her apartment as fall into it.
Keeping up with their newfound tradition Jennifer and Joseph kiss their way through the darkened lounge until they reach the sofa. Entwined they lay themselves across it, Jennifer's head coming to rest on a cushion.
'That's strange,' Jennifer thinks to herself. Her first non-carnal thought in half an hour. 'That doesn't feel like a cushion.' She reaches back and prods her lumpy headrest. Two lumps to be exact. 'It almost feels like...' Suddenly Jennifer sits bolt upright, another person is sitting on the couch. She flicks on the side-table lamp.
"Mom!" Jennifer could almost scream. In fact she does. Or was that Joseph?
"Jennifer, I'm glad you finally managed to make it." Sylvia lets her disappointment in Jennifer's tardiness show.
Jennifer's mind is racing a million miles an hour. It's not everyday you come home to find someone sitting in your darkened apartment. "Mom, what are you doing here?"
"Our dinner. We better get going, I'm quite hungry." Sylvia arches a quizzical eyebrow in Joseph's direction, "I see you've worked up an appetite..."
