One of the pioneers of the 'theatre of the absurd', Arthur Adamov is better known today as the outstanding French Brechtian, but his early plays continue to be performed by small theatres throughout the world. This volume contains the two best examples of his first period: Professor Taranne, which the author says occurred to him during a dream, and the full-length Ping Pong in which the world is ironically depicted in terms of a pin-table game.
