Like another reviewer said, this book is actually the third one as far as plot chronology goes. However, the book is essential in showing us more of the characters and their lives. In Painted Moon we see that Bleu is having more than a little trouble trying to get to sleep. Her friends are more than willing to help her with suggestions, but it's Erin's suggestion that really shocked her: masturbation. When the group is shocked to discover that Blue (and also Victor) have never "taken things into...
Blue Monday is Archie with real teens and swearing. In this case, a small core group of outsiders in high school, bonded by their oddity and ability to banter with each other. In this book, a direct follow-up from Absolute Beginners (you can skip Inbetween Days, it follows Painted Moon)we see Bleu trying to cope with the fall-out of events from the last volume and dealing with such never mentioned teenage issues as sexual orientation and masturbation. Although a veneer of shallow baiting masks t...
I love these comics, the characters are well written and are hilarious for the most part.
Book four in the Blue Monday series (plotwise, right after Absolute Beginners). Desperate to meet some "normal" guys, Bleu and Clover go out for a night on the town. Unfortunately, they don't have much luck. Erin gives Victor some bad advice in order to improve her own love life, and the tension between Clover and Victor continues to build.

Just simply loved it... simple story, really funny and music that I love, what else can I ask for? That it is my hope that it finish soon
5 starsI will forever be sad that Blue Monday has yet to continue...😢

6 stars. totally awesome. you know what i'm talking about.
For me, Blue Monday is an odd book. It's never really a favorite, but it's always interesting enough that I'm willing to pick up the next book. On one hand, it wallows in 80s music that I hate and is clearly inspired by 80s movies that I find boring. On the other, the characters are very infectious and Chynna does a good job twisting around the various relationships in interesting ways.Of all the characters, Clover is the one that I can't quite form an opinion of. She's absolutely essential to t...

Better than volume 3, but still just ok. Volume 1 was cute, volume 2 fell a bit short, and then it just got unnecessarily crude. I'm disappointed, but if this is the direction it was to go, I'm glad she's moved on to other projects.

This is probably the strongest volume of Blue Monday. Taking place before Inbetween Days, it has a broad focus that never feels like it's meandering. As with the earlier volumes, it's primarily about friendship and romance. Chynna writes the teenagers well. They feel authentic. She's got a good insight into high schoolers. The art is good, too. All four volumes are a great read, and it's interesting seeing Chynna develop as a writer. It's a bit of a shame that this is the final volume, as it wou...
