Torchbearers of the Perennial Tradition: Julius Evola, Charles Maurras, Guido De Giorgio

This remarkable new collection from Black Front Press includes a substantial amount of material that has been translated into English for the very first time and brings together three of the most powerful and authoritative voices from the realms of Traditionalist philosophy and radical European politics.

The Traditionalist School, which includes thinkers and mystics such as René Guénon , Titus Burckhardt and Frithjof Schuon , adopts the metaphysical position that the world's great religions share a transcendental untity in that each is descended from a common primordial source. Attempts have also been made to transpose the values of what is chiefly a spiritual concept to the political domain, often with very mixed results. The present work sets out to introduce three of the more controversial and uncompromising thinkers in the field: the Italian artist and philosopher, Julius Evola ; the French writer, critic and Action Française stalwart, Charles Maurras ; and the Italian esotericist, Guido De Giorgio .

Part One is comprised of Sintesi di dottrina della razza by Julius Evola, which was originally published in 1941. Evola's work is broken into two sections and, whilst the first of these, The Race of the Soul, contains chapters such as The Race of the Soul and Culture, Origins of the Races of the Soul, Can New Races Arise, The Limits of Myth The Mystery of Birth, Classical and Romantic Ethics and The Demonic Element in the Anti-race, the second is titled The Race of the Spirit and examines the Eternal, Solar, Demetrian, Telluric, Dionysian, Amazonian and Aphroditic races, as well as discussing The Race of the Spirit in the Archaic Mediterranean. The book then turns to Charles Maurras and his 1937 work, Mes idées Politiques , in which the author presents his thoughts on the Traditionalist dimensions of Truth, Force, Order, Authority, Nature of Authority, The Conditions of True Authority: The Education of the Leaders, The Exercise of Authority: Power, Freedom, Right and Law, Nature of Law, Property, and Heredity and Duty of Heritage, before studying the nature of Tradition itself. The third and final part of the book looks at La Tradizione romana , written in 1939 by Guido De Giorgio and examining The Establishment of a Traditional Society. Chapters expand upon the important role and symbolism of Priests, Warriors, Workers and The Leader.

With its unique insight and erudition, Cologero Salvo's diligent translation is certain to make a valuable contribution to our overall comprehension of the Perennial Tradition as it manifests in a variety of fascinating contexts.
