When I was fourteen years old, Hosea Feed The Homeless fed me and my brother, and saved our Christmas. I remember the bus coming to pick us up from Bankhead Court Apartments. We didn't have anything for Christmas because our guardian did not have much. Through charities we received clothes, toys, free haircuts, and the most important gift we received was a meal. It was at that moment that I knew my purpose was to help build sustainable communities. As a first generation high school and college graduate, I strive to break the cycles of poverty and despair. My story started in one of the worst neighborhoods, and now I am making a difference in neighborhoods through community involvement and leadership. I teamed up with the Atlanta Housing Authority and developed the B-Team and TEAM Foundation to mentor and coach the children in our community. I was one of the recipients for the 2009 TeeNick H.A.L.O Awards. My story goes to show that it doesn't matter how it starts, but what's in your heart!
