If there is one reason why I love this series - MERCY THOMPSON… I want to be her best friend. She’s an amazing character – brave, strong, humble, feisty, loyal, and she’s a mechanic with a fabulous car!!!!And then there’s her relationship with wolf shape shifter, Adam Hauptman!!! He’s a total alpha male…possessive, arrogant, brave but he doesn’t take over Mercy’s life……….he respects and admires her…and of course he’s totally in love with her…..swoon….what a man!!! I love th...
Reread on Audible in November 2020So I love these books are audiobooks. Lorelei King is great. Her voice fits Mercy so well. Actually, she's great at the other characters as well. I love the growly inflection she gets when Adam is being Adam, and she captures the dichotomy of Samuel (a man of natural humor but also deeply grieving what he's lost and fears he can never have). Yeah, all the characters.I forgot how scary this book is. The ghost part is quite chilling, but moreso is the vampire who
Another satisfying installment in the Mercy series, although there was somewhat of the flavor of an in-between book about it. That's not really a criticism from me; when you are in a series for the long haul, it makes sense to take a breather and deal with all the events your characters have faced as well as integrate a feel of the everyday into their lives. At the end of Iron Kissed, there were at least two significant events that needed follow-up and I would have been disappointed in Briggs as...
2020 Mercy Thompson series reread! Review first posted on www.FantasyLiterature.com:Mercy Thompson, a part-Native American coyote shapeshifter or walker, and full-time mechanic, is still dealing with the emotional aftermath of events in Iron Kissed, but at least she and the local werewolf Alpha, Adam, are on the right track now. Unfortunately for them, their relationship plans promptly get interrupted: Marsilia, the mistress of the local vampire clan or “seethe” (I love that word), has found out...
Mercy, mercy, Mercy! Patricia Briggs latest Mercy Thompson novel "Bone Crossed" kept me on the edge of my seat, furiously reading to find out what happened next! There's good news and bad news in Mercy's latest adventure and just when you think things will settle down, BAM, there's someone new looking to mess with Mercy's peace.Mercy is still recovering from her brutal rape at the hands of a fae 'possessed' wacko. Mercy managed to kill the b^%tard, but it will be a while before the psychological...
Great PNR series. If you loved the Fever series and the Kate Daniels series, you'll love Mercy Thompson (and Adam...yum).
This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.I enjoyed this book even more during this re-read. This is definitely one of my all time favorite series and I honestly believe that everyone who hasn't read these books yet should run to the bookstore right away and buy them up. This is the fourth book in the Mercy Thompson series and it picks up right after the events of the previous book. It is really important that this series be read in order since some of the events are carried...
February 2018 Reread: Buddy read with Sarah and Erica :)January 2017 Re-read: Buddy read with SarahJanuary 2016 Re-read: Buddy read with Sarah: I've never really loved this book as much as the previous 2 in the series, before. But this re-read was different for me. It was stronger here. I appreciated the villain, and the story, and everything that was happening. Mercy needed this time, needed this moment - especially after the events of the last book. And - even though this is one of the worst v...
2018 Re-read:One of my favourite Mercy Thompson novels! Lots of vampire drama, but most importantly we get to know Stefan better. Is it wrong that I still wish Mercy had chosen him rather than Adam? Mercy gets to really draw on her skinwalker powers, proving once again that being a growly werewolf is not necessarily as tough as the wily coyote! (BTW, I saw a big fluffy coyote over the Xmas holidays, and thought of Ms. Thompson).Re-reading this series has really re-set my internal reading-metre.
Briggs excels at characters. It drew me to her traditional fantasy and serves her even better in the longer series format. You come back to a series to see what the characters are doing now, because their lives absorb you and you want to know how things turn out for them. Her characters a multi-dimensional, engaging people and I can’t think of one who I’d wish she’d kill off.One thing that makes me sad about this series is it shifts focus between creatures. I love that Blood Bound and Bone Cross...
This is the first book where we get the dual-plotline format, presumably because Briggs liked both concepts but couldn't figure out a way to stretch them both out into book length. It's strange to have one plot advertised on the cover, and then have a completely different one make up most of the book, especially when there is nothing tying the two together, except Mercy. It must suck to have two super powerful bad guys plotting against you at the exact same time. There’s nothing particularly memo...
⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Need More Adam Interference*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱ Re-read: 05.07.2019 The fourth book in the series the Volkswagen mechanic and a walker (a magical being with the power to shift into a coyote at will), Mercedes ‘Mercy’ Athena Thompson (how old is she?), finds herself torn between wanting Adam and what he has to offer, and not putting him in danger by being with her. On top of that, she still struggles with panic attacks from her rape in previous book and her killing vampire Andre has finally reac
Never in my life have I been so confused on my feelings for a series. I like some of the on going plot in this series. I like Mercy and her friends, but I don't like that there is no real romance in this series. It's mainly fantasy imo. Though I will say that this book I did see more of a connection between Mercy and Adam. I just feel like I shouldn't have to wait four books for a connection to really show. I don't know if I want to continue reading this series or not. I have all the books, but
Re-read Time. I'm slowly buy surely making my way through the series again.Second Read ReviewSo apparently, I don't remember anything from this series. I completely forgot who the bad guy was, or anything about the vampire politics at play or the main plot of the story. The only thing I remembered at all was some superficial stuff about Adam and Mercy's relationship. It's a little strange that I don't remember more of this series, it is almost like I never read them before. Still the bad guy was...
Re-read for the 3rd time April 12th 2020. Already onto the next one!Re-read March 24th, 2017. Mercy manages to attract a lot of trouble and chaos, I guess that might be part of her nature as a Coyote. After the events of the last book Mercy suffers panic attacks and some hesitatancy even though she knows Adam would never hurt her, but all that takes a back seat when Marsilia finds out about Andre. Trying to figure out a way to keep the Pack safe and alive becomes her priority. My thoughts? Vampi...
I really liked this book, this series gets better and better actually. The cast is filling out nicely, and although there were a few plot twists that were a little obscure, whatever. Nice emotional arc for the character, I really enjoyed it, hardback purchase justified!!
Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson World # 6 Mercy Thompson # 4We are back with our favorite part Native-American coyote shape-shifter. She is dealing with the after effects after being raped. She is lucky that she has Adam and his pack of wolves. Which would be strange because wolves normally don't hang or protect shape shifting coyote, however she is adams mate. They are finally on track. YAY!!! However they get side track when the mistress of the vampire clan is out for blood. Mer...
