Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys is a six-issue limited series that stars Harley Quinn and her Gang of Harleys to battle the ultimate evil – Harley Sinn. It was written Jimmy Palmiotti and Frank Tieri with art mainly by Alain Mauricet. Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys collects all six issues of the 2016 limited series.Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys is a six-issue limited series, which Harley Sinn, a new villain, quickly stealing the spotlight from Harley Quinn as she kidnaps her, t...
”If I’m not outta here in five seconds, somebody’s gonna get their spleen ripped out. I mean it… spleenless! As in no spleen. About to get a spleenectomy. Adios spleen-ios, if you will. Spleen-free! Aw, ya get the idea.”Harley Quinn has hired a team, the Harleys, to help her her do her thing - fight crime etcetera. One day, when Harley is kidnapped why an obsessive, strange woman calling herself Harley Sinn, the gang of Harleys must work together to get their boss and friend back safe. The road
So how many of DC's diversity policies did this single series meet? You've got your disabled, minority, and LGBTQ representation included in Harley's gang, which would be better if the characters actually distinguished themselves from each other at all during the series. But for the most part, who they are doesn't impact their actions at all, which kind of devalues the representation. The story itself is fun - Harley wants to test her Gang to make sure they can work on their own, but then gets ki...
It has been a while since I caught up with the Palmiotti/Connor run of Harley Quinn. When I found this I knew I needed to read it. It was interesting as more backstory about the gang and even the antagonist came to light. The writers knew when to give others the spotlight and when to focus on Harley.
**4.25 stars**I really enjoyed this! All the new "Harleys" were really great, and the new villain was also really great. Although the back story for the Harley Sinn is just... a bit... much? I don't know how to describe it. It kind of felt that they tried to throw everything sad to Harley Sinn. The ending was really good, and left me wanting more... (view spoiler)[ the last panel did say "End... for now." So perhaps there is some kind of sequel? (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]
This is a collection of the six volume spin-off from the original Harley Quinn title, fitting in between volumes 4 and 5. Now, I've pretty consistently rated these titles rather low...but this spin-off surprised me. It wasn't until halfway through the volume, however that it caught me. The Palmiotti/Connor team can NOT do humor and that is painfully obvious as this volume opens with Harley and the Gang taking on a Hipster Mob and defeating them with a carton of milk. However, they can write dark...
Harley’s been kidnapped, and it’s up to her newly recruited band of misfit wannabes to find her. They just have to overcome a group of hired assassins and an island of deathtraps to find rescue her! This graphic novel collects the six-issue miniseries from 2016. It’s a little more serious in tone than the regular series, but not by much - you still get some great one-liners and visual gags along with the typical Harley comic violence. While Harley definitely has a good presence in the book, it re...
An evil version of Harley kidnaps our heroine, while a new group to accompany Harley on future adventures is introduced to the world. A gentleman who massively resembles Donald Trump appears too. This version of Harley Quinn is a lot more playful and family friendly than the psychopath portrayed by Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad though. Perhaps that's why this book is classed as Young Adult. As ever with DC, this series of comics in this compilation is beautifully drawn and inked, with modern wi...
Harley Quinn decides to test her Gang of Harley by pretending to be kidnapped, unfortunately, they find out that it's a test (after spending a lot of time "looking" for her), but of course, then Harley gets kidnapped for real by a real psycho. Now the Harley's have to save Harley for real...I must admit that it has taken me some time to warm up to the Harley's, but now with this volume have I finally started to like them and I quite enjoyed reading this volume. Now, the villain, the psycho who k...
An interesting spin on Harley Quinn. I'm not used to seeing her depicted as a hero but I still enjoyed the entire story. Complete review coming soon!
I read this one when it originally came out but I read it again because Frank Tieri will take up the mantle and be the new monthly writer for the Harley comic. After rereading it again, I am confident that Frank Tieri will give Harley more classic stories that will be referenced years down the line. Harley and Her Gang of Harleys is a story that deals with fanaticism gone very VERY wrong. After I finished reading this, I started thinking about how Palmiotti and Conner get their ideas. I can to
Somewhere along the way, writers Frank Tieri and Jimmy Palmiotti seem to have forgotten that what makes Harley Quinn work is that she's bat$#!+ crazy. This volume is full of ridiculous action bizarre situations, but Harley appears to be the sanest person in story - resulting in a read that's barely better than average (and that's with Joker-pirhana fish man-eating goats and evil robot versions of Ivy, Catwoman and Power Girl!).Seriously, Harley Quinn: Gang of Harleys is just not quite there.
A little more serious than the rest of hers, but still with some silliness thrown in. I do like the Joker's return at the end, showing how neither he nor Harley can ever truly escape the other. Harley Sinn will be interesting to see more of as well, if she shows back up, which is a big if for this series.
This was great! So much fun, it had me laughing out loud multiple times! Loved the artwork in this one, big, bright and beautiful!
Though I love the new Harley Quinn series I felt that this addition was a little sub-par. It keeps the campiness and crazy humor that makes the Harley Quinn titles so enjoyable but it underplays it so much that I never found myself laughing aloud. Also the artwork - though very good - didn't play into the school-boy humor that sets this series apart. The ironic and biting facial expressions were missing as were the asides that add so much to the previous books featuring Harley in her own adventu...
I received an early e-ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.3.5 stars. The artwork was really good and the story was well written. It came together nicely and made for an entertaining read. Harley wasn't featured quite as much as she is in her own titles, and that's no surprise given the full name of this one. Her Gang of Harleys proved to be entertaining in their own right though, and worked together well enough when they had to.
I wanted to like this more than I did. It started off as a fun, campy romp and had some good moments. However, it tried too hard to be a mature social commentary. I read superhero comics for action and good stories, not didacticism. There was too much gayness, sexual innuendo and political satire with Trump being a bad guy.On top of that, the main villain turned into someone we were supposed to feel sorry for because it was her bad childhood and terrible parents that really made her evil, not he...
Being good now is hard work. It also doesn't pay very well. So Harley Quinn starts up the Gang of Harleys. It's their job to take on those messy, low paying jobs when Harley is busy doing other stuff. But when Harley is abducted by a deranged fan, the Gang of Harleys will have to become a team fast or they might be known forever more as the Gang of Dead Harleys! Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harley's was a crazy romp into the world of the Joker's Ex-Girlfriend. Frank Tieri and Jimmy Palmiotti d
In which we meet Harley's hired Harleys. This was so much fun. We start out light, with the gang taking down the Hipster Mafia ("You monster!" "He's lactose intolerant!"), then find our heroine kidnapped while her team of eventually-to-be bad asses tracks her down. The Harleys are fantastic, if indistinguishable. By sight, certainly. But other than Harvey, don't expect me to know their names. The writer even has the characters reference this almost from the start. Our villain, much like very vil...
Mr. Tieri and Mr. Palmiotti did a fantastic job of giving the Gang of Harleys their own individual niche, carving out their personalities a little more. (Not to mention filling in that gap in the storyline I knew I was missing to make sense of the Rebirth volumes) There was more to this installment, though, outlining that the majority of the villains Harley and her group tangle with aren't one-dimensional. There's pain taken to delve behind their actions, giving them motivation for their actions...
