Learning and Teaching Theology

Learning and Teaching Theology

James Harrison
0/5 ( ratings)
This is book is a companion volume to the 2012 publication Transforming Theology Student Experience and Transformative Learning in Undergraduate Theological Education . That work detailed the research undertaken across numerous higher educational providers of theological awards and its findings have spawned many subsequent explorations of the issues raised. As a means of consolidating such impetus, the Sydney College of Divinity hosted a conference in 2013 to promote further scholarly thinking on the learning and teaching of theology. That conference has in turn engendered a number of essays by contemporary scholars and practitioners at the leading edge of Australian and New Zealand theological education, now gathered into this volume. The purpose of this volume is to present some contemporary thinking and innovative practices in the field and so to encourage further such development within the theological community. Les Ball has had over 25 years' experience in theological education as lecturer at Bible College of Queensland, Academic Dean at Malyon College and Dean of Brisbane College of Theology to 2009, with particular involvement in curriculum design and delivery. He has served as Greek Exegesis examiner and Church History moderator for Australian College of Theology, as Convener of the Committee on Standards for the South Pacific Association of Bible Colleges, and has been active in numerous academic and accreditation committees in Queensland and NSW. He is currently an honorary research consultant at The University of Queensland in Practical Theology. Professor James Harrison is the Director of Research at Sydney College of Divinity and an Honorary Associate of Macquarie University Ancient History Department. He is author of two monographs on Paul , the co-editor of New Documents Illustrating Early Christianity Volume 10 , and the editor of E.A. Judge's collected Augustan and New Testament Essays . His articles are widely published in books and international journals. He is a New Testament social historian, with strong interests in the historical Jesus and Second Temple Judaism, as well as the apostle Paul in his Graeco-Roman context.
