The story begins with a young, intuitive, and reasonably well-adjusted Probation Officer dealing with a very difficult client, an aging female con-artist. During the course of office visits with this client, some very sensitive information is uncovered. After intense scrutiny and investigation, this client becomes quite aggressive and threatens harm to our main character and those around her! As tension builds in this officer's personal and professional life, another relationship goes sour. Feeling boxed in, and wanting to protect everyone, she makes a decision that could forever impact her life: she vanishes without a trace! Seeking help from an unlikely ally, she retreats to a piece of paradise. She tries to forget her past, and even changes her identity so she will not be found, and so she can buy some time to work on the problems at home. However, she seems to lose sight of her goals, and even of herself, and her life becomes quite chaotic for nearly a year. With help from her friend, and later, a stranger, she makes her way back home to confront the evil that caused her to leave. Still, she has many secrets to keep. Crime...Danger...Intrigue...and Romance are just some of the adventures the reader, and our characters, experience.
