Games Without Screens: Travel Games For Families

Games Without Screens: Travel Games For Families

Antony Mann
0/5 ( ratings)
Though you will need a screen to read this book and learn how to play the games in it, you will not need anything else except two or more willing participants and their imaginations. None of the games require any accessories whatsoever, not even pen and paper for scorekeeping.

Some of the games are old favourites that most people will be familiar with, others are games that my children helped invent and refine on short and long car journeys in Australia and the UK. Some are games from my own childhood, a time when the personal computer and the mobile phone were no more than the twinkle in a tech head's eye.

We all need and use technology to varying degrees in our lives. But in this day and age there is something wonderful and indeed liberating about seeing children play games which do not involve screens. Even better is taking part yourself. Most of the games in this book are not about winning. They are about taking part and creating something together.

These games have brought our family endless hours of enjoyment on our travels, and they still do. I hope they do the same for you.
