A good start to the new series. Angel & Faith start their journey together in England using Giles' Watcher files to try and make amends for Angel's stint as 'Twilight'. I liked that it is back to villain of the week type stories, which is what made the Angel tv series as good as it was at the start. Plus a nice addition of an old maybe not so friendly face.

Again, this review is for the entire series, which started about a year ago? This one, which I didn't have a lot of faith in (ha, faith) is honestly my favorite of the two series from Joss in comic book form. I love the story arc involving Giles, won't say more, in case you're super behind. The actual writers of Buffy and Angel are writing a lot of these with Joss at the helm, and it shows.
To be honest, Faith was always my favorite character of the entire BtVS universe, so I am *here for this.* I started reading the series a while back, got distracted, and am re-reading it. So far, it's fulfilling what I came here for. Both characters seem written true to form, and the storyline is interesting. Really, it would take a lot for me to be unhappy any time Faith's involved.
Interesting plot line... we'll see what happens. I'm just such a Faith fan anyway though.
I'm actually liking this series better than Buffy Season nine. The set-up is more exciting and, hey, it's also set in England which instantly makes any production a little better for some unknown reason.
This companion series to Buffy Season 9 is the best Buffyverse comic yet. It has got the old school Angel Investigations feel and Angel and Faith make a great duo. Clever writing, good plot, good art!
I am really surprised that I enjoyed this. I cannot stand Angel in the slightest bit, however, I do love Faith so maybe that's where all the stars I've given this is coming from. The ending of the comic intrigued me and I will be reading more.Artwork was better than Buffy S9 #1. I look forward to this!
This was a good first issue. It seemed very true to the characters and I could picture the actors delivering these lines. Looking forward to reading issue number two
Effectively Season 9 of Buffy.Post the Season 8 Graphic Novel series with the plot focussed on Buffy, Willow, Scottish highlands, magic etc.Post the LA/Hell apocalypse that only Angel now remembers.
I'm not completely in love, but it's only the first issue and they had a lot of things to set up, a lot of ground to cover. Looks very promising though!
Read this in Barnes and Noble. Waiting to move to Boston. Never took Angel as seriously as B. Didn't read any of his other comics yet. This story is about feeling guilty and trying to redeem yourself, but not letting it consume you (the story of all soulful vamps). Five by five. yeasssshhhh.
Ahh Faith, one of my favorite characters. And Angel ... not so much. But still I always loved their dynamic, and it's good to see everyone moving away from the insanity of Buffy Season 8. They do try to explain a bit Angel's thought process behind the Twilight debacle, but he's still making bad choices and there are consequences. How refreshing to see Faith be the voice of reason. (This review is for the first graphic novel compilation and not just the first comic.)
An interesting start. Am more interested by this series than the start of S9 (I know this was out first, but I read them the other way around). Angel & Faith were always a good pairing, so this should hopefully be a good match. The art is good. Based on the first issues alone, I'm liking Rebekah Issacs' art much more than Georges Jeanty's for S9, issue #1. The use of 'chavs' and 'copper' on page 15 amused me, as an English reader.
Love it! There's a lot of promise with this series!!
One thing I didn't like about the Buffy comic I read (Season 8) is that it felt too big. While the groundwork is laid hear (in Season 9) for some pretty big tie-ins, there is still a feeling of immediacy and grounding that I appreciate.
An interesting start to Season 9. I am very excited to have Angel over at Dark Horse and to be able to read his storyline along with Buffy's. Obviously comics are short and it can be hard to write reviews of them, but based off this first issue, I think we can expect great things from both the Angel & Faith title as well as the Buffy Season 9 title.
I really liked reading Giles' watcher diarys and also seeing the other side of Buffy Season 9, Angel has some crazy ideas I must say...
Due to the Twilight machinations, Angel is back to make amends. Again. Teamed with Faith, Angel believes that making things right is to take over for the man he killed in Season 8. Tagging along for the ride, Faith wants to make sure that Angel is getting back on his feet - and she is ready to put him in the ground if his "resurrect Giles" plan goes too far. As the ramifications of a magic-less world complicate life for the ensouled vampire and former rogue Slayer, one cannot help but notice the...
The world of buffy keeps getting better and better! I loved the storyline and I loved the graphics. Much better than the television show, I am glad the GN's continued and went on a different path that wasn't explored in the show.
