I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This was a pretty good collection of short stories by horror authors. I enjoyed the stories, and I believe that the authors have some talent. 'That's The Price You Pay' was probably my favorite story in the collection.
Oops, I forgot to add my review here for 18 months :/“Late Fee” is a story about a guy with girlfriend trouble getting more than he bargained for when he stumbles across a strange video store one night. I gave this one 4.5/5 stars, and it was probably my favorite story in this issue.“Horror Junkie” by Michael Schutz-Ryan is about a couple of roommates who became friends thanks to their love of horror movies. Everything is working out great until things go too far. I gave this story 3.5/5 stars.
The folks over at Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing are known for taking daring leaps and, as a result, publishing some great books. Of the things I’ve read by them, not one is like anything I’ve ever read. I mean that in the best of ways. They’re willing to take risks and publish material that a publisher with smaller testicles would shy away from and everything they publish pushes the envelope of literary spec/horror fiction. But enough about them. I want to talk about this periodical that th...
I reviewed this anthology for NetGalley.Dark Moon Digest #22 is just like consuming an entire pound of Godiva dark chocolates at once - satisfying, yummy, surprising and scary after you finished pigging out and weigh yourself. And well worth it.Ms. Michelle and the rest of her merry crew hit all the high notes with this delightful collection of horror short stories, essays and a novel excerpt. Most of the horror genres are included, some of them in the same story - motel hell, swamp creature, va...
4 out of 5 starsYay for short stories and horror! I've never tried to read a magazine in e-book format, and it took me a bit to get used to the flow. I appreciated all the advertisements sprinkled in with the stories and really need to get my hands on the previous 21 digests. This magazine has some really stand out stories, and I want to review my two favorite. The book opens with "Late Fee". A young man finds that his long distance love is cheating on him and goes out one night, and gets very lo...
I received this arc from Netgalley. Really good!! Great collection of horror that I enjoyed reading. Quick read and highly entertaining. Definitely recommend.
Here lies some first rate, freaky, creepy, fiction. Which begs the question, if this is issue #22 where can I get my hands on the first 21? Because I want them all and so will you. If you like short horror stories you will love these. In "Late Fee" A spurned lover gets more than he bargained for when he wanders into an old timey 80's style video store. "Horror Junkie" is a tale of best friends and roommates who share an affinity for horror movies until one of them gets a bit too extreme. "Room 2...
