Enter Cecil Livingston, a retired logic professor whose current employment affords him the opportunity to assist the detective through anonymous messages.
After two local chefs are murdered with no apparent connection between the two, the helpful hints begin to arrive to Detective Crabtree and he´s able to use his own logic to arrive at all the correct conclusions.
