Freedom (Pale Horizon #1)

Freedom (Pale Horizon #1)

Charles Owen
4/5 ( ratings)
What is "truth"? Quid est Veritas? Wouldn't we all like to find the answer to that question? Don't we need to?

In rural first century Italy, stifled by the dreary limits of life on his family chicken farm in a tiny crossroads village, nineteen-year-old Julius dreams of fame, fortune, and changing history with his many talents. But only a day after he runs away, his careful plan goes terribly awry. He soon finds himself a fugitive from justice with Gaius, his younger companion, and Lydia, a slave girl they've rescued.

Yet this is only the beginning of his fifteen-year journey of self discovery. Spanning a tumultuous decade and a half of human history, Julius lives through personal triumphs, devastating setbacks, and the perplexities of learning to live with and love other human beings in all of their glory, wonder, and imperfections.

Julius will find his answer, his truth. But it's not at all what he expects. Ride along on the journey and see what you, too, might possibly discover.

The author plans to tell the story of Julius in six volumes and to complete the saga in AD 79, the year of the total destruction of Pompeii, a Roman town-city, by a major eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius.
