American Eagles: A History of the United States Air Force

Dan Patterson
0/5 ( ratings)
From its beginnings as an adjunct to ground forces of the United States Army, when even the Air Corps commanders believed that the airplane would prove to be of little consequence in battle, the USAF has become the preeminent air force in the world. With photographs of the truly extraordinary airplanes and materials at the U.S. Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, you'll gain insight into the monumental air combat of WWII, the combat in Korea and Vietnam, the designers, leaders, pilots, and other individuals who built the USAF and are taking it forward into the 21st century. Dan Patterson is a freelance photographer and graphic designer who lives in Dayton, Ohio, home of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the U.S. Air Force Museum. Patterson has photographed and written six other aviation books. Ron Dick has served as a Smithsonian International Fellow at the National Air and Space Museum and as a visiting lecturer at the USAF Air University. He has flown more than 5,000 hours in more than 600 different aircraft.
