0/5 ( ratings)
"Of Beards and Men" is a portrait series by artist and photographer Joseph D.R. OLeary.

The 212-page book includes 150 visually rich and detailed portraits along with a brief "bio" of each bearded gent. The book includes three essays written by Douglas Beasley , George Slade , and Andy Sturdevant . In addition the book includes an insightful interview by Beardrevered and brief statement by New York Times photography critic Vicki Goldberg.

The book is a handsomely designed and exquisitely printed limited edition Fine art book. The reproduction of the images is traditional/UV offset printing on cover weight premium paper. The book is available in hardcover; hardcover with slipcase; and softcover with dust jacket. The hardcover edition incorporates foil stamping, debossing, and a tip-in photo. The hardcover slipcase edition includes a fabric-wrapped slipcase with debossing and a tip-in photo. The softcover edition is produced with a soft-touch laminate and foil stamping and include a special french fold dust jacket. All editions are smythe-sewn.

The book explores the current fascination society has of men and the personas they project to the world around them. OLeary states: "....while this book began with facial hair as a point of departure photographically, it is evident that the 'beard' was merely a thread to connect what we now see: portraits of individual men and the manner in which each defines, expresses, and presents himself. As a collection, 'Of Beards and Men' is a visual record and celebration of contemporary man in the early twenty-first century."

Book contains some nudity.
