Yeesh, when I said I wanted more after the first volume I really should have held my tounge. Dragging it out is an understatement.
Full disclaimer: I went into this one without having read the previous volume. I have no idea whether or not that had any effect on my enjoyment, but... Minor Spoilers Ahead So far, this was the weakest Injustice installment that I've read. Maybe because of Wonder Woman I'm just full-up with Greek gods in comic books or something? Pfft. I don't know.Doesn't matter, because these gods weren't all that scary, even though they were probably the best pick for Batman & Co. to ally with at this poin...
I received this from Edelweiss and DC Comics in exchange for an honest review. Ugh, where to start with this one. My greatest fear when Brian Buccellato took over was that this once-great series would lose its direction and drive. And that, unfortunately, is exactly what is happening. The story is very convoluted, and getting worse. All of a sudden, the Greek gods decide that Superman is not worthy to rule the earth, so they jump into the fray, initially siding with Batman and his crew. Throw in...
Not on the same level of the first two Years, but better than Year Three. Gone are the deep philosophical conversations and ethical dilemmas about what is right and what is wrong, how far a person should go to enforce peace before he violates another person's freedom of choice, and what is more necessary: Peace or Freedom? Instead, its pretty much bang bang fistfights and one on one combats all the way (making it more and more like a video game-tie in comics that it really is, but we didn't real...
I know a lot of people hate Year Four but I found it pretty entertaining. I mean people doing stupid shit for no reason but still. There's moments of true stupid as fuck moments. One being with Seristo. It makes no sense and it adds nothing to the story beyond "Oh another save" moment. I also dislike how they made everyone just rush into fighting without seeing any sense in it. However the fights themselves are entertaining. Watching Wonder Women face off against Superman is fun and exciting. I
Series went downfall for good after Tom Taylor left it and this was another weak volume for me, but Diana pummelling of Supes was an epic one.
While not quite up to the level that year 1 and 2 brought us this was still much better than year 3. The deity angle worked better for me than the magic angle. 3.5 stars.
2.5 stars It pains me to give a lower rating to what used to be my favorite series, but I'm afraid that's all it can get.The departure of Tom Taylor has been a huge blow to the series and while Bruccellato tries his best to continue the story, it's not entirely convincing. The first volumes were everything that a comic should be - they had fast paced, intense plot, mind boggling twists, breath taking action and extraordinary characterization.Up to this day these are the only comics that have made...
"This is awful." - Batgirl"It needed to happen." - BatwomanYear Four, Vol. 1, however, is anything but awful. This is unfortunately my Injustice: Gods Among Us swan song, as my library system doesn't carry the remaining books (the second part of Year Four and all of Year Five) - damn. Don't leave me hanging, LSLC!I'm kind of bitter about that, as the series was regaining some of the Year One & Two momentum. Year Three's occasionally tedious (but not horrible) magic / mysticism showcase showdown
It's quite an enjoyable volume. The artwork is outstanding, the plot is good and neat, the sense of humor (?) despite the grim situation is nice too. Harley and Billy! Yeah!I just don't believe Damian would call Batman 'Dad' in any situation, not at all. LOL But the brief dialogues between Batman and son are still awesome, almost to the point of black-humorous. By the end of the volume, there are a lot of Plastic Man's coolness and witty speeches as well! Who would have guessed?I'm glad that (vi...
Still not the Epic tale year 1 and 2 was. But atleast They are Starting to recover from year 3.
This was such a fun read!Superman takes down Renee in what proves to be an emotional story and then we have the rise of the Batgirl and that was cool to see but the main story is what happens when the Greek Gods comes in and ask Superman to abdicate his regime and then a great twist with Clark vs Diana and the brutalty of that fight, the coming of Hercules and all that and the JLA regime fighting the Greek Gods and a massive twist with Shazam and it was such a cool character and so many subplots...
(Received from Netgalley for review.)Is this what we're going to do now? Every "year" will have some sort of themed enemy that Superman will eventually vanquish? Last year was magic, and now we're on to the Greek gods. So seemingly on a whim, the Greek gods have decided that Superman's rule is a blasphemy against themselves, and so go to war with his side what Batman and company sort of... awkwardly watch? Because they're very outclassed. Still, even with slight plot justification, there's some
I still found this just as good with the Greek Gods arc. Probably not as good as the first couple of Years but still awesome.
2.5 Stars.Okay, this is going to be a bit long 'cause I don't know if this volume is enough to keep reading this title. I'll explain.Injustice: Gods among us was a fantastic title. I consider Year One and Year Two to be one of my favorite comics of all time. The way Tom Taylor presented the story, the way he included and presented every character and their position in this conflict was perfect. Every character had a moment to shine, a witty line, an amazing scene, you didn't have to spend a lot
Another good volume in this series. So apparently the Greek gods have been manipulated by Ares into a fight against Superman's forces. The fight scenes are interesting. Especially those with Wonder Woman. Superman is still a hypocrite and a tyrannical doucheface. It is taking a god-awful long time for Superman to realize how flawed his decisions are. But they're finally starting to realize that maybe they've chosen the wrong side, and they're realizing that Sinestro = scum. TOOK THEM LONG ENOUGH....
I don't usually like to mix my mythology with my superheroes but it totally works here.
Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year Four Volume 1 by Brian Buccellato is one action packed volume that pits the old Gods of Myth Zeus, Hera, Hermes and more against the new Gods Superman, Wonder Woman, and more in a fight with deadly consequences. Wonder Woman's mother makes a deal with Athena to revive Wonder Woman and Superman from a magic induced sleep, we learn the terms of that deal in this volume and the consequences that come with it. Batman also makes a deal with Athena (the God of War) who i...
